Wondering if anyone noticed a slow speed (25mph or less) bouncing of the suspension over uneven pavement. This seems to have started after a recent update. We are now in the Midwest where some concrete streets are cupped from freezing weather. These sections are the same size and create a.ryrhmic bouncing of the front end that is very annoying. I have never experienced this in any vehicle in my advanced years. I have the ride setting on soft. BTW, we love our Rivian 😁

Wondering if you are talking about how when I drive over a manhole cover, my Rivian jerks and feels like the wheels are going to come off

Gen 1 Quad R1S with 20's and if I put mine in Sport Lowest/soft and took anyone for a ride with that setting, they would think my suspension is broken. Supposedly Gen 2 is better but overall I think the wheelbase is just too short for the suspension they chose. R1T gets around these issues even on the Gen 1 because of the wheelbase. It's tuned for offroad and drives like it unfortunately which represents 2% of Rivian owners who offroad.

Could be a leak in your cross-linked hydraulic dampers (shock absorbers). This happened to me after some 4WD rock crawling. Got a dashboard message to have my suspension checked and had clunking noise in Off-Road mode over any bump and a lot of sway in All-Purpose mode. Finally got it in the shop 8 weeks later (first available appt) and they are replacing all four dampers on my 2025 Trail package R1S Dual Max.

I think SOFT mode is part of your problem. Too mushy in my opinion. Is it better in MED?

Soft rarely makes sense on road unless it’s a really bad road. If you do use it, lock it in standard ride height (or you’ll be in high if off-roading).

All 4? Holy smokes. $4k EACH out of warranty. Crazy how unreliable this suspension is

I don't think that's it. The suspension works well in all other situations. I will try the medium setting on that stretch of pavement.

My wife agreed with me that the ride had changed since the latest update. We do a 380 mile trip a couple of times a month and the latest drive I had to set the suspension to firm and low ride height to get tracking and jounce under control. Of course I would say it was subjective except that my wife pointed it out first.

I had the same issue and Rivian performed 2 things that resolved it. Per @Rigel2601 they changed out my dampers that were rusted out despite never off roading (not going thru rivers etc). I also suggest that you have them drain all of the air suspensions and check for leaks. But I had the same issue and constantly asking Rivian why a car should be bouncing going 10-25 mph down my street. It goes again their thinking bc the S is conceived to go through a bunch of off roading, but Rivian struggled with the idea that I expect my $90K suv to drive smooth on the normal roads. There was a dramatic improvement but recently I started sensing it again and checking to see if it is as bad again or not.
