Couple changes I made:

Turned off Atmos in the Apple Mustic app... I feel like Atmos utilizes the center speaker to create a more spacious sound effect, but there's already just too much sound coming out of the center dash speaker which kills the R - L sound isolation. Next I want to try putting a blanket over that speaker and see what the effect is.

I then re-adjusted the EQ with a couple test songs, and one of them I could actually see the Sub moving a little, and the sound was decent.

Also remembered today to not fiddle with the sound while the door is open. The sound level dips with the door open, maybe as a courtesy feature so you don't blast people with music... I'd rather it stay normal volume when I open the door while cleaning the car or just being around the vehicle outside. Personal preference.
I’ve had Atmos off for months. It 100% sounds worse when turned on

I love everything else about the new quad, but suffice to say, I miss my meridian speakers😭.

You could be onto something with the T vs S thing. I’ll give your settings a try. But man I’m so disappointed in this system. I just spent a week in the R1 on a road trip and such. Just got home, hopped in my Y to run an errand and the difference slaps me in the face every single time. I’m not trying to be the ā€˜Tesla compared to the Rivian’ guy, but it’s so drastic of a difference
Not directly related to this thread - but back2back listening tests between gen1 R1's with elevation audio left me feeling the T had a much better set of acoustics than the S - Which was great for the 9 months we had them both and I drove the T ;) (Also my wife couldn't care less about the sound system she abuses with her taste in music)

Spent the day with the update and some tweaking. Honestly it sounds fine except the lack of bass. Some songs sound ok, but most sound like no sub exists lol

Piling on to agree. 2025 R1T Tri here, and while the audio "highs" seem clearer/crisper, the lows / bass are pancake-butt flat

All the people complaining about the lack of a glove box made them add 2 for the R2. Maybe if we keep complaining about the bass they will double the output.
I bet it doesn't ship with 2 gloveboxes, and if it does will be cut very early. Who needs 2 gloveboxes?

Clearly THREE gloveboxes are needed. Duh.

Have anyone notice that the sound (especially bass) it's drastically reduce while driving versus parked. I noticed this before the update and it's still prevalent after the update. I'm not sure if this is any issue with my R1S or is it a widespread issue. To test this issue find a song that actually sound great with whatever you have the EQ set to. First listen to it while the vehicle is parked, the listen to the same song while driving. Please reply if you do or dont have this issue. The sound system is an embarrassment considering the price we are paying for these vehicles. It's preventing me from really loving this purchase.

I don't have this issue. The sound in my truck is excellent. I am not using Atmos. It is simple stereo from Spotify. And it rocks. I really am flabbergasted so many are complaining about it. My truck has great audio with very strong bass.

Do you have a Gen 1 or Gen 2? I read another thread making the comparison between the sound in the T vs S. They noted the size of the cabin and distant (from subwoofer)being the difference in the sound between the two.

It should be clear from my signature but I have a R1T Tri.

I can't understand why I seem to be the only one who thinks the bass is good. It's freaking loud. I had to turn it back a little after the update.

It isn't the same as a 12 inch woofer vibrating the chassis at 40 Hz, but that isn't what I expect. The bass is deep and is good enough that I am not strongly motivated to add a sub. And I like bass.

This makes me wonder if there are some kind of undocumented (to the public at least) system differences because your experience seems to be the opposite of mine.

My bass was drastically reduced after the update. So much so, it actually made me doubt if anyone working on the update actually sat in an R1S and A/B tested the update with the previous version. Maybe Rivian tested on something equivalent to your truck and most people have a different version.

This is all speculation of course but hard to explain how you could be having such a different experience.

I actually measured this in a Gen 1 R1T Meridian and an R1S Elevation (my vehicle). See my signature for links to the data.

Cabin volume and distance didn’t make nearly as big of a difference in bass response as I expected. I’d say there is some infrasonic benefit to having the R1T’s subwoofer physically closer to the listening position but not many songs push subwoofers that low.

OTA updates that provided DSP tuning made the largest changes to Gen 1 bass and brought the T and S largely in line with one another. Both sounded reasonably good after specific OTA updates addressed rattling issues in the R1T Meridian.

In case anyone wonders, I’m a bass head. I run dual ported 15ā€ subs in my media room that hit THX reference levels at 30 Hz.
