$4500? Surely they are taking a piss.
Take a quick survey of e-MTB prices from the common top bike brands like Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Canyon, etc.. $4500 is just the beginning for model lines that aren't kid's toys. And none are modular or have integrated tech. Just a conventional bike with a electric motor bolted to where the bottom bracket would be.

Dunno about the price; I haven't ever looked into the e-bike market before. Gut feeling feels high, but 🤷‍♂️.

Tech-wise, there are numerous things that seem neat, but a few that I'm uncertain on.
1. The seat. The swappability is interesting, but it -feels- like it could be prone to breaking after a few years. Really, I'd need to see how the seat swapping mechanism works and is structured.
2. "Pedal-by-wire". I'd be curious to see what the efficiency losses are here compared to a traditional pedal bike (belt or chain)
3. Access to parts? User-repairability?

I'd been looking forward to the announcement, but I've got an overall feeling of "Okay?". The delivery quad looks cool/useful for cities though!

$4500 is not out of line for a well specced e-bike. Heck, you can easily spend that much on one with out a motor and battery.

FWIW - I reached out to ALSO's Customer Service to enquire whether mudguards can be fitted & was informed that actually "yes", the road tire version can fit mudguards, even though as of yesterday there are no photos and/or information on the site regarding that option.

For anyone who commutes on their bike this is a necessity - and I'm glad that it wasn't an oversight by the company.

I love a forum full of people that have 80k-130k cars saying that a $4500 bike is way too expensive.

we all know you can go to costco and get an e-bike for $1500, but this is clearly a different bike. conceptually its very interesting, and while I won't claim that they will be successful, its not a "me too" ebike, which is refreshing.

The Quad is very interesting. I could imagine a ton of those driving around the city delivering packages. much lower carbon footprint too which we definitely need.

If you go through the build process on heir website the fenders are $50 more. The seat with the carry rack is $150 more. The “Bench” seat is $100 more.

I put down the refundable $50 reservation deposit because I am precisely interested in the pedal by wire. Currently I ride for exercise on a non-ebike and often ride at the top gear ratio or near to it. I’ve looked at adding an ebike torque motor capability to my frame (~$1400) to experience faster speeds. But the direct chain connection still means I would need to pedal faster at the top gear in some cases than I want to/can maintain. The Also solves that problem. However my current bike is a semi-recumbent and I would be giving that and its cushy seat up with the Also.

Ebikes have a bad reputation for being the lazy person's bike. We've all seen the fatties cruising at speed not even or barely pedaling. My 52lb Turbo Levo Comp is more of a workout at the lowest assistance than my non-electric Niner WFO that weighs 32lbs.

I love the bike. My question is how do I carry it in my Rivian. Do we think they will make a hitch mounted rack? I need it when I am camping. It will be cool to ride around in the woods and get whacked on the head hear and there.

Any hitch mount rack that can support a 80 pound bike
