In conserve mode, I have occasionally experienced pronounced torque steer when accelerating out of a curve or changing lanes. Is this to be expected in FWD, or is it time to call the SC?

I have experienced this also and believe that it is normal in conserve mode. It makes me cringe whenever I do this to myself by forgetting to switch off conserve.

torque steer in FWD can be caused by several possible issues:
- Unbalanced tire inflation - one side higher than the other
- tire wear or tire defect defect
- Control arm bushings
- Cracked front subframe (welded construction) on 2022 and early 2023 models. In 2023 Rivian changed to a cast subframe which eliminated this issue.

If you have an early build I would definitely have it checked.

With that said, I have experienced it under hard acceleration and steering angle in Conserve.

All fwd cars with a lot of torque will have torque steer. Not unique to Rivian, perfectly normal.

100% normal. Personally, this is why I feel Conserve mode is only to be used when absolutely necessary to get where you're going without running out of charge. For me, that is almost never.

On road trips early in ownership, when I had a little anxiety over just how far the R1 would actually go on a charge, I made use of Conserve mode. But my comfort with the vehicle and charger availability have both increased tremendously over the past 3 years. Can't even remember the last time I used Conserve.

Only when I accelerate harder in Conserve mode. So, I don't step on it in the conserve mode - kinda defeats the purpose of "conserve" mode....
