Can’t unsee it now…thanks!?Such a sad little recovery eye-loop on the front bumper![]()
Not having actual tow hooks might have been a sacrifice for aero efficiency vs. permanent hooks...Can’t unsee it now…thanks!?
but yeah, what’s even the cost saving on that? Hopefully just a prototype thing
Conventional suspension ... cannot wait to see what the aftermarket does. 3" of lift and 34" tires and this thing could be beast-y.
Better than none. And as long as it is strong enough for recovery...Such a sad little recovery eye-loop on the front bumper![]()
II think it's more about cost. Integrated hooks don't add to frontal area, so they make little difference on aero or turbulence/drag.Not having actual tow hooks might have been a sacrifice for aero efficiency vs. permanent hooks...
R2 is expected to be just like R1 with the tow hooks. Higher trims (R1 dual large and up) have tow hooks and the lower trims (like R1 standard) don't have tow hooks at all but a single tow point. Not having actual tow hooks might have been a sacrifice for aero efficiency vs. permanent hooks...
Or the rectangular spaces are turn signals, like Gen 2 R1. But since concept car has hooks in that space... For cost, the removable single point make sense. And that is really all you need for recovery, as long as the eyelet and mounting point are sturdy enough. BMW X5, Porsche Cayenne and many others, that's all they have.R2 is expected to be just like R1 with the tow hooks. You can see in the image that R2 has a place for tow hooks still.
Could also be that all R2s will be getting the single tow point and the tow hooks are just for aesthetics?
You're right. I see the telltale hockey stick design on the sidewall... Pirellli Scorpio MS. R3 concept wore those as well. https://www.pirelli.com/tires/en-us/car/catalog/product/scorpion-msMost of the validation builds seen testing have the tow hooks on them, so I highly doubt that they are removing that outright. Those also look like highway tires in the pictures posted.
It’s just a prototype thing. Here’s a pic of what it should look like when it goes into production. Two tow hooks, similar to the R1S.Can’t unsee it now…thanks!?

Awesome! When they first announced the R2 I thought it was going to be more of an urban grocery getter (maybe the single motor?) Glad to see it’s sticking with its off-road roots.
Hey, I was told I could have my cake AND eat it tooBetter than none. And as long as it is strong enough for recovery...

It's funny how people say they want a EV to meet a certain price point, but then get critical about missing features that would add cost. Same reason I have doubts about the Slate truck. But I digress...
