This year's CES is more of an Auto Show 2022, with all the Auto manufacturers making all their announcement.

With that came VW announcing they will reveal the ID. Buzz on the 9th of March. I know a lot of folks on this forum are waiting for this one as a people hauler.
VW will reveal its production ID.Buzz microbus EV on March 9th | Engadget

I just hope VW has a better UI than the one they had in the ID4.

I'm interested to see what trims they are going to produce. A California would be sweet.

I read that the California is rumored to be more of an overlanding trim, possibly with bigger tires and an interior that is more rugged. I'd be very interested in that set up (not for overlanding per se) as long as it didn't have a big range hit. Also I'd expect the special edition/more expensive vehicles to get delivered first

It would look 1000x better if they had given it roundish headlamps. It also needs two tone paint.

Agree about the two tone paint....if I can get one in an orange body with a white top I will literally break my mouse putting in that preorder.

Honestly, I expect nothing but disappointment from this. VW has been promising a microbus revival since the first concept in 2001. They're finally going to do it but we still have to wait until 2024 to get it in the US.

2024 model year, so it will be available in 2023. Considering it will be available in Europe this year, the interior is similar to/the same as their newest T7 van in Europe, and it is on the same platform as the ID.4, I see no reason to think that it will not be available to early orders in 1H 2023.

I really liked the concept vehicle. I don't like what it has turned into. :(
Agreed. The concept was fantastic. The test mules they show are hideous, imo. Hopefully the actual production vehicle is more similar to the concept.

Cute but there is more potential for baddassery with R1:

My wife might make me cancel the R1S reservation for one of these, this was her all time favorite car as a kid growing up in Oregon.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with it officially.

Looks like Bjorn came across the ID Buzz,

VW ID Buzz spotted in Norway - YouTube

I gotta say, I like it !
I understand why people don't like the front end as much as the original concept but I really like what they did with the back end. I do wonder if that's the short wheelbase version. My biggest takeway is that it is shorter than the Model S and also more narrow.

Funny you mention that. My wife grew up in the very hippy Josephine County in Southern Oregon and the ID.Buzz is looking to be a better fit for her than the R1S. There is a good chance I will be cancelling my R1S pre-order and switching to the ID.Buzz.
