.46 Update killed charging (for me, seems to be a limited issue on some Gen2)

Updated to .46 last night on my Gen2 R1S and now my neither of my Tesla L2 chagers will charge at rates past 1.7kw. Both work fine on my Gen1 @ 11.7kw with the same update. Went to a supercharger because of a trip this morning and couldn't supercharge, just errored out. Went back with my Gen 1 and no issue. Tried a hard and soft reset and no help. Guess I'm scheduling service....Mental note to self...never update right before a trip.

Edit: When I got back I called rivian and they said it is a known issue with L2 charging and there is no fix yet but they are working on it. They said fast charging should still work so maybe I was just in a hurry or something so I'll try the supercharger tomorrow.

Edit 2: Rivian support is pushing the .46 update to my Gen2 again to see if a redo fixes it. I'll report back.

Edit 3: Rivian support pushed the .46 update to me again and once installed everything worked. Not sure if they changed the build at all or just pushed the same updated. All fixed!

Yeah there’s a big thread on the rivian subreddit about it. It’s limiting L2 to 8 amps for some reason. Someone there reported calling Rivian and getting a special update pushed to them that fixed it so maybe try that.

Someone just updated on Reddit that they called support, and they pushed another update to the car.

I’m curious if it’s actually different build or they are pushing the same update to ensure all the modules get flashed correctly.

Wut?
My Tesla chargers have been flawless along with the supercharger network by far the best. As described this was not a Tesla issue it's a Rivian issue but I still love my Rivian. Thanks though.

He is making a political statement. Using this forum for grandstanding. There is nothing wrong with Tesla charging infrastructure and it is usually the lowest price and very reliable.

Yep, same here. I also posted on the reddit. Gen 2 using the L2 Rivian charger. Caps at 8 amps and won't go any higher.

I'm in the IT world and I normally understand software bugs and issues. However, issueing an update that affects home charging like this before one of the most travel heavy holidays is irresponsible.

Granted, there a lot reporting no issues and that is great, but you can't ignore that this is pretty bad issue.

Coming from an IT world you know more than anyone that you can’t test 100% of the scenarios. This appears to be limited to some G2 vehicles and Wyssam expects his team to have a patch out this coming week.

Only way to prevent something like this is to have a blackout on OTAs around major holidays.

No issues here, Tesla wall charger. Saw this bug reported so I charged last night at the same 11.0-11.2 kw as it always does. Are all the people with L2 charging issues after .46 using Rivian chargers?

I confirmed my 2025 R1T Tri motor does not have this issue. I have the older Tesla wall chargers (think Gen2) and use a J1722 adapter with no issues. The problem seems to be limited to certain configurations and I read a post from Wassym confirming the error but didn't say which configurations were impacted.

No it appears to be a subset of G2 vehicles and only impacts L2.

According to reports the issue has been identified and fix is expected this week.

I've got a gen 2 with adapter and gen 3 universal and neither one was working.
