Tire question: What could have caused this?

My factory original tire seems to have delaminated from the steel. There is a bubble that runs around the circumference of the tire. I noticed because it felt like driving with a flat, but it didn't lose any pressure. Any idea what caused this?

I'm replacing with all new tires, any suggestions on a better replacement tire?

Thanks!

Lots of recommendations in the tire forum for replacements. You need to know what you want. Low noise? off road? All season? Winter? price? lifespan?

Wear looks very uneven. Did you not rotate? But failure is not caused by that. It just failed.

Looking for something that "looks" off road but is less loud. The most off road I go is construction sites and flooded roads 😆.

Also the truck lives down south so l don't need winter or all season tires

Again, tons of threads on alternative tires already. There's also this guide https://riviantrackr.com/rivian-tire-guide/

SL version of Toyo Open Country ATIII EV are most comparable to the stock Pirellis in weight and efficiency. Users also say it is quieter. Just about anything that is a milder AT and On-Road AT are quieter than the Pirelli.

Don’t discount the tire. I had two Pirelli’s that were warrantied because they could not be balanced and were defective.

Look at these Goodyear Territory

They are designed by Rivian and GY. I plan to get these when the time comes.

As mentioned the Goodyear territory gets great reviews for looks, ride, and noise.

IMO the Michelin defender all season is the best all around tire there is. It is whisper quiet, long lasting, performs great in all conditions, and eats miles. It isn't cheap and it doesnt look as cool as others but I love them on mine.

It’s good for a low cost all-around tire. Otherwise, nothing particularly great about it. Several reports service life of around 20k miles, which is in line with its 580 UTQG.

My perilli scorpions delaminated after 15k miles. I was rotating every 5k. Started by feeling a wobble in steering wheel. Went with Michellin Defenders LTX and couldn't be happier: better ride, quieter, and michellin stands by there warranty.

Very pleased with local Costco, so I'll probably stick with Michelin X-Ice Snow for bad weather.

Goodyear Territory seems to be available only for Rivian's 20" wheels, not 21" or 22".

Best wishes!

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm down to these two:

GOODYEAR WRANGLER ELECTRICDRIVE AT
Pro - Looks pretty aggressive and has the sound attenuating feature.
Con - Can't find much about them from actual owners online .

MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S2
Pro - Owners seem happy with them. Better price. Quiet.
Con - Look like they belong on a Prius.

I'll update when the horse gets shoed..

Tire separations happen. There are many causes, and sometimes they just happen. I had one recently.
