I'm not sure when this started but voice commands using Alexa have stopped working after functioning perfectly for 2.5 years. This is just the basic, in-car Alexa, and not tied to my Amazon account.
Basic commands, for temp and fan speed, for example, only result in a "I'm sorry, I don't recognize that one" reply. Full reset did not fix this. And here's where it gets interesting: I can perform an infotainment reset, followed by turning off Alexa then turning it back on in Settings, and voice commands will work for one command only. Then immediately after, Alexa's amnesia returns.
Because of how little I use voice commands, this is a minor annoyance, rather than worthy of a service visit. But I wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this and has any other DIY solution recommendations. My search of the forum turned up nothing similar. I'm also hoping it will clear up at the next software update.

Yes, I noticed this especially after the 46 update. I use Alexa voice commands fairly regularly and it worked 97% of the time. This past weekend it was about 33%. More than once, I asked for directions, Alexa responded with the correct address and then did nothing. Repeatedly.

Thank you for the quick reply. So it does sound as if this is related to the last update.

FWIW, another example: Alexa reports a bizarre time for the vehicle -- UTC+1, but knows the time zone the vehicle is in, and the correct time for that time zone. Transcript:
  • Alexa, what time zone is this device in?
    • This device's time zone is Pacific time.
  • Alexa, what time is it in Pacific time?
    • In Pacific time, it is currently January 5th at 1:50 p.m.
  • Alexa, what is the time?
    • It's 10:50 p.m.
🤷

Turned it off within a week of taking delivery. Functionality was never good. Skip it until Google Assistant comes.

R1T, May '23 Gen 1 build.

After 2.5 years of reasonable reliability, Alexa is behaving the same way in my truck as it is for OP.

I'm concluding that it's not a specific issue with my vehicle.

I thought it was something I said to make Alexa feel unappreciated. We're scheduled for counseling next week.

She knows she's getting fired and wants to make it as painful a breakup as possible.

I really thought after the last update, the lady in the truck (alexa) would respond correctly when I say, "alexa, call honey".

Nope, now it keeps saying that it doesn't recognize that name bla bla blahhhhhh...

I have to go in to settings, alexa app, and turn off and on the use address book. Even then, it only will connect properly to my android pixel 6 phone.

When the fudge does this get replaced with Android version?

I have an R1S 10/22 build, I use Alexa quite a bit and mine is still working on .46.

I just did a drive yesterday around 250 miles, worked fine controlling HVAC, locating points of interest in the navigation, and answering general questions.

It is so odd how the reliability is all over the place. Prior to 46, I was mostly satisfied and used it regularly. Now 80% of my requests, especially navigation, fail.
