Rivian says no need to deflate tires before beach diving, but I've gotten stuck THREE times now on the beach and have to be towed as rescue pads couldn't get deep enough. The R1T Quad Gen 2 is so heavy it simply sinks into the sand. Anyone have any experience with this? Do you deflate to 25lbs and can you drive around town like that? I want to take my dog on beach everyday, but I don't want deflate / inflate my tires every time. My Tacoma had NO problems on the beach. My Rivian can't drive on the beach... simply sinks to the chassis.

Depends on how soft the sand is but yes you want to deflate on sand. 22's don't have enough sidewall to make a lot of difference so if you have 22's might be better to get smaller wheels. No you don't want to be driving around town with deflated tires a pothole will cause a puncture due to the weight of the truck.

Well, I'm not sure where you saw Rivian said not to reduce air pressure, but in the manual they actually recommend it and just say to not reduce it too much. (Page 226 of the user manual)

RTFM. Rivian does not say no need, they say exactly the opposite. I air down to 35 and have never gotten stuck.

No, you cannot drive around town with the tires deflated.
Range will be terrible and because of higher street speeds wih this weight you run the risk over heating and damaging the sidewalls due to excessive continuous flexing.

you got stuck the first time, went back and got stuck the second time, and went back and got stuck the third time?
I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas.

NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE FROM RIVIAN

Maybe you got it from the subreddit, which is full of misinformation because people elevate it and downvote truth. And any AI drawing from it is equally sloppy.

Nobody reads the manuals for what they purchase anymore, apparently.

Nope. And get very defensive when shown to do it. Highly illogical. It's a 7k+ pound machine with high potential for causing fatalities and serious injuries. Rules and regulations aside, wouldn't anyone want to know how to operate theirs?

Why read the manual when you can ask the Internet and get 1,000 answers instantly, one of which mght be right? And now with AI LLMs summarizing everything, it's a sure thing that the AI answer is 100% the right answer. ;)

The number of people who assume—or worse, believe—AI is always right is the real scary part. We're neck-deep in the post-truth world as is. AI, and how it is abused/misused, is just making it worse.
