Purchasing parts that can only be bought by certified service centers

I am experiencing a drive unit leak on my gen1 R1T and it seems the only way to rectify is to replace the disco module. Now you'd say, bring it to a service center... But unfortunately, my truck is not in the US/Canada. Shipping it back for service would be extremely expensive.

I have a business account and access to the parts catalog, but Rivian won't sell me the required part as they want a fully trained service center account. Has anyone a place from which such parts could be purchased? I found the same part on eBay, but it's about double the cost of what Rivian would charge.

The gatekeeping is ridiculous with Rivian. You could try ordering through one of the 3rd party repair centers like https://www.electrifiedgarage.com/

I assume there will be a slight overhead in price.

Where is the leak on the disconnect? Output shaft seal or at the mating surface on the geartrain housing?

There are several salvage yards with Rivians now in the US. They are likely to have one.

it's right where the shaft connects to the disconnect module.

They actually do sell the output shaft seal by itself at least for the rears which I assume you need. part number is PT00054326-A for Gen1 costs around $40.

If that is part of the disco module, then I guess it would be substantially cheaper fix. That part is showing 'RESTRICTED' too on my catalog though.

and like the other components they won't sell it to me. Apparently they check the VIN/GPS location of vehicle too to ensure it's not sold outside of supported areas? Wonder if there is an equivalent OEM replacement for the seal.

Have you tried the 3rd party repair places like electrified garage? I suppose you could find a generic equivalent it is a pretty standard looking seal.

Yeah, tried with the suggested vendor and they don't want to risk their account by selling the part for a vehicle that isn't in a supported location. Interestingly enough, Rivian seems willing to sell entire damper module assemblies to anyone with an account... go figure!
