Has anyone found Rivian compatible painted body moldings that would use adhesive and match official Rivian paint? If I park next to another SUV or truck I risk getting door ding

Do you have a photo of what you're talking about?

If it is what I think it is, many older vehicles have this but they are very ineffective due to large variances in height on the other vehicle that may hit you.

These will be very unsightly on a Rivian and I would not recommend it. Park farther away from others, hug an end spot/curb, park by nicer vehicles, etc. Maybe consider PPF on your doors. Worst case, you can pay the $75-150 for some paintless dent removal if you get hit.

Knock on wood, I've been driving for ~30 years and I think I got one door ding which was "my fault" since I wasn't selective enough about my parking. This was~20 years ago.

Echoing shamoo. It wouldn't make much of a difference. Plus, to keep weight in check in an already very heavy vehicle, the metal skin is very thin. Probably the thinnest of all vehicles I've owned. The R1 dents very easily. Look at some R1T closely and you'd see many have deformed gear tunnel hatches just from the owners closing them by hand.

I'll echo the "very thin" and/or easy to dent. Within a month of owning my R1S, I opened my door and it swung out past where I opened it to the first detent. It hit the plastic passenger mirror of an old honda civic. I now have a lovely door ding from that incident. It was very surprising to me based on the speed of the door etc. I also have a dent on the hood near the emblem -- not sure what that's from as there no paint chipped around it so it doesn't seem to be from a rock or something I hit on the roadway.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

I’m sure it’s a weight thing with EVs, but vehicles are not made like they used to be. Paint is thin, windshields are thin, everything is getting thinner and cheaper.

Get some GOAT Fabrication sliders so people open their doors into those instead of your door.

I almost suggested that and I even used it as an excuse to get a pair. But, now that I have them, it still depends on what the other vehicle is and how their doors are shaped.

IMO it's going to be more effective than some randomly placed trim strips. I've watched someone slam their door into my sliders before. Dented the crap out of their door and couldn't even tell on the slider.

With sliders, the front doors are pretty well protected, and the best way to protect the rear doors is to leave the truck in "highest" when you exit :)

So went to local dent experts and they were able to pop the dent from the inside, now looks like it was never there. I went 50K miles without ding til now. I think what happened was that the car went into kneel allowing neighboring SUV to miss my running board sliders.
