R1 Gen 2 does this already. Universal Hands Free
Oh, OK. I guess I was just confused. I thought that Rivian's system only worked on premapped roads, but I see now that UHF works as long as there are clear road lines 👍

Yeah the two big misses on the Premium trim is no adaptive dampers and no ventilated seats.
My guess is they’ll be available on the premium for an additional cost.

It is confirmed there are no speakers in the front door cards, and there’s some sort of speaker below the dash in the console (sub?) I hope it has good bass response, that really helps!
Probably because they plan on having removable doors as an option…maybe?

No - it was to make room for a bottle holder which apparently was a highly requested feature. The sound is redesigned into and around the front dash.

I'd rather have the legroom personally, especially with rear facing car seats.
OMG yes lol.

You don’t realize how much you need until you’ve got a rear facing car seat snug into a car.

The AWD premium is the model for me. I do think the price it a little high considering Tesla's premium starts at 49K. I am also disappointed the premium does not include the adaptive suspension. I hope they have an option to add the adaptive suspension.

Try putting a rear facing car seat behind the driver's seat when you're 6'5. Doesn't even work in our Odyssey so, yeah, rear legroom please! I'll probably never fill the cargo area with the back seats in use.

Eh, FSD works for me. Pulls out of my garage, drives me to both of my kids' schools, and then drives me back home without me touching the wheel (12 miles there, 12 miles back). Handles stop signs, roundabouts, and streetlights. I'm just hoping that the R2 (or used R1T Gen 2) that I end up getting can do the same thing at some point.

Haters gonna hate, but I'm hoping for major leaps and autonomy for EVERYONE and won't cheerlead just one company. I want everyone to succeed.
The issue with FSD is that, while it is nice for the driver, it drives everyone around them nuts. Eg it takes up way too much space because it leaves a silly amount of space in front. So instead of 1 car taking 2 car lengths, 1 car takes 4-5 car lengths. Which means you fit less cars on the road and you increase traffic.

I’ve also had so many incidents where FSD has almost put a Tesla into the side of my car. Or has cut me off to get to an exit. How do I know? Well, when I see the person at the next light and ask them what the deal is, they say “the car did it on its own.”

Insanity. I don’t want to use a system that annoys everyone around me. Even if it is something I like.

To each his own. I have my car set to Mad Max mode and it drives like a competent person. If it drove like ****, I wouldn’t be paying the $99/month for it. So there’s that — why would I waste money on a trash system?

With that being said, it’s “on the job training” for all of these systems — Rivian and Tesla included. They’re only getting better. When I first tried FSD three years ago, it drove like a drunk 16-year-old that just got his license and I dismissed it. Today, it’s lightyears ahead and I’m comfortable paying for it.

Rivian is going down that same path. It will only get better with time. I welcome our AI overlords 😂
