Curious how much extra for the paint color??

My wife wants the purple, but don’t need the performance version. was hoping premium allows for purple and coast interior. I hope it’s not like R1, where it’s $3k for the paint and another $2k for the interior

It’s not a 0% chance, but it’s probably not more than 10%. There are some ppl who JDK.. they want high quality CC, and Lane change and city nav, which they can get and don’t need full recline the seat point to point FSD. And many ppl just want a high quality car that will last 5-7 years..

It was said LiDAR would flow into production near end of '26. Level 4 autonomy requires legislation. All Rivian (or anyone else) can do is work on the tech. The rest is NOT up to them. Intent of LiDAR in R2 is because R2 customer bases will be a much larger share of the pie. This means, eventually, lots of crowd sourced autonomy data could be gathered and inform how other, non-LiDAR equipped, cars/models could drive themselves well. In short, LiDAR itself is not something you absolutely have to have in order to have autonomy.

It's below the dash as part of the center console, it looks round but not 10"...perhaps 8"? Hoping the enclosure is tuned well. Perhaps an easy upgrade to a better Subwoofer is not.

The rear side door speakers during the first public drive looked like 3” drivers. Aka hot garbage.

I mean, it's modeled after a nighttime color. There are much brighter/more vivid purples out there.

They showed off some of it without LiDAR on Autonomous day.

So with the performance dual motor trim getting yellow calipers - I presume this means that the unmentioned Tri motor would eventually get `Laguna Beach` calipers and trim if/when announced.

Based on the Quad motor Gen2 R1T - we should be expecting that in around 12 months if it's still coming? I'm sure it is - but here it really makes sense to hold the halo back - lest it cuts into sales of the current 'top of the line' model - I know enough of us on here agonized about whether to get a Tri R1 now, or wait for a Quad for the 2nd Gen R1...
