I was really interested in LE until I saw that we potentially have to pay for the privilege of having the Launch Green color on the Launch Edition, which seems stupid.
What on Earth are you talking about? There have been no announcements about paint color pricing, but they also explicitly say that LE has one additional free color. Assuming the same as they did with the R1, the free color will be silver and the additional free color on the LE will be Launch Green. Since that's the whole reason for having a "launch" color.

If you are happy with current gen 2 functionality, get the LE R2. If you are hoping for any major improvements, wait for gen 3 with LiDAR.

Love my LE R1S, but it sucked when they surprise released gen 2 a year later and stopped all development on driver+ after promising much more functionality. It’s nice that this time they actually warned everyone.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Bad timing for me, gotta wait for model Y lease to be up so I’m a no go for now.
I’m stuck waiting until the end of 2027 with my Model 3. I don’t think I could afford the R2 Performance anyway. I think the monthly lease price will be between $600-$700. I need something closer to $400-$500 tops.

I'm in the same boat as far as time line goes. But like @McLovin said we can trade out of that lease. Guess got a couple months to think about it.

Borealis and Launch Green are both paid upgrades only available on the Performance trim.

Cancelled my day 1, hour 1 R2 reservation and sticking with my 4 year old R1T for now. Perhaps an R3 or R3X someday.
Also an early R1T owner with with and early R2 reservation. Hard to justify an R2 when the R1 is still so good.

This is specifically concerning and under the LE options. It said paid upgrade under LE benefits. It doesn't say paid upgrade on Performance under Performance options/benefits. This section is specific to LE.

Will Rivian do a lease buyout?

You do realize you can trade out of a lease, don’t you? I’ve been doing it for over a decade.
This is the first time I’ve ever leased a vehicle (Model 3). I wasn’t aware you could trade out of it. I thought the automaker had to offer to buy out your lease. I still think a $600-$700 a month (just a guess) lease payment would be too much for me to pay. I’ll probably wait for the $48,490 model.

I will be sticking with my Gen 1 R1T for the next couple of years. I wish Rivian would add more functionality, but all things considered, it's still a great vehicle in nearly every way. I also see an extended warranty in my future. The R2 is a very appealing vehicle, and may replace our Telluride, but only after Gen 3 is available and validated.

Launch Green is only available on the Launch Edition so the regular performance version will not have it as an option.

Yes, I get that, but it says PAID upgrade. It's not included like Autonomy+, which is a huge bummer.
I see what you are referring too
Can’t prove it but I think it has been updated to say that
Yesterday it did not say that

50/50 at best for me. The lack of LIDAR at launch and no option for coastal light interior are 2 big misses. Still no answer on V2H. The plug in 20A nacs plug is meaningless for me.

Really want that V2H if I'm going to be buying a new vehicle.
All R1s are V2H capable. No reason to think that won't carry over to R2.
