Wonder if you can get around the range hit on the 20" AT rims(On the performance models) by switching to an all season tire? Also hate the idea of having a 21" rims with limited tire options.

You'll gain back some by running AS tires on the 20"—and depends on which exact tires you pick. With all R1 tire options, the factory tires have demonstrated to be about as efficient as it gets. And Rivian will have a 20" AS option. It's the design that is on the original concept car, the one with the four silver squares (see R2 Premium), also shod with Pirelli Scorpion MS (just in 255/60R20). And the range figure is the same as the 21" option (255/55R21).Wonder if you can get around the range hit on the 20" AT rims(On the performance models) by switching to an all season tire? I really like those square design wheels but unfortunately the AT option for the Perfor a CE has a different design compared to Premium and Standard. Would have simplified things if they had kept the AT option consistent across all trims. You'll gain back some by running AS tires on the 20"—and depends on which exact tires you pick. Would not surprise me if Pirelli made bespoke tire (and the unique size) for Rivian. They did so for the R1. Significantly more volume of tires for the R2.How confident are we on that 255/55R21 tire sizing? Neither tire rack nor other random sites show anything in that size and I don’t want to get stuck with only one tire option again. That would suck and is unnecessarily expensive for what is supposed to be a mass consumer/affordable vehicle.
Yeah I just found a picture elsewhere confirming that size.Would not surprise me if Pirelli made bespoke tire (and the unique size) for Rivian. They did so for the R1. Significantly more volume of tires for the R2.
Isn’t it the same pattern as the 4Runner, Tahoe, Silverado, Tacoma, and Grand Cherokee?I just came back from Overland expo and talked to one the reps at the Method booth. I asked if they had any wheels coming out for the R2 and he said that the problem is that the bolt pattern that Rivian is using used to be very popular but now they’re one of the only ones that use it so they aren’t sure if they’re going to come out with anything.
I don’t think any of those currently use them anymore. I believe they all switched.Isn’t it the same pattern as the 4Runner, Tahoe, Silverado, Tacoma, and Grand Cherokee?
…based on a quick search.
They would when there are R2s everywhereI just came back from Overland expo and talked to one the reps at the Method booth. Other tire makers came out with the size that fits Rivian R1 T/S within a relatively short period of time (within couple of years). Given the volume of R2 being much higher (hopefully), likely that there will be multiple choices within the 18 to 24 months.Yeah I just found a picture elsewhere confirming that size.
stupid f*cking decision for a mass market vehicle that’s supposed to be more budget friendly. Now I need to figure out if I can use my R1T 20s on the R2, but I’d imagine it won’t work.

This is the info I was looking for. I like the look of the 20” rims for the AT option on the performance trim and it’s the preferred size for me, but don’t want to lose the range with AT tires. I was hoping the AS tires on the 20” AT rims would still produce the 330 mile range. You'll gain back some by running AS tires on the 20"—and depends on which exact tires you pick.
