ok, this is a pictures thread... so more pictures, less talking (let's find a more appropriate thread for that).

I agree with this. Gap issues are fairly common Tesla,, but not stopping them from deliveries. My Tesla constantly gives me camera blocked messages and the trunk lid needed adjustment to sit properly after taking delivery. Im fine with getting these types of fixes addressed post delivery.
While I agree with the general sentiment of these posts, I have to to disagree here. I believe customer acceptance of post-delivery fixes for many of Tesla's issues has essentially been a green light for them to cut corners during production to grow production volume. Having suffered twice from poor build quality, it's been something that has really soured my view of Tesla. Their technology is impressive and has been cutting edge, but the inconsistent and sometimes very poor build quality has been a real detractor for many owners. While Tesla has no issues selling their vehicles now, especially with of their first mover advantage, I think these issues are really starting to effect how prospective buyers see them. This will be especially important now that the EV market is growing increasingly diverse and more quality manufacturers are coming onto the field. Rivian needs to be able to distinguish themselves with both quality and technology to establish their market niche, otherwise they will be viewed as mediocre and will not grow to their full potential, perhaps to fatal ends. There is a balance to achieve and Rivian will get there, but now is not the time to ship poor quality products.

Agreed. I want reliability and fit and finish to be micrometer perfect.

Not to continue pushing this thread from pictures, but QC concerns are part of the reason I don't have a Tesla. And I'm not someone who particularly cares about panel gaps. But if they effect the way doors open/close or they start to make noise, that's an issue for me.

All of this is valid! And if Rivian communicated that was the reason they were holding back Im sure many on here would wait longer. BUT, Perfect is the enemy of good. Im not saying its ok to have gap/QC issues, but if you’re waiting for a new car company to make a new car that doesn’t have any issues it will be a while still IMHO. FWIW, our Teslas “QC” issues are not showstoppers and were easily resolved at the service center, still allowing me to get my car when I needed it (except for the whole no batteries thing last year, which was a happy surprise since I can charge to 100% every time with the iron based battery).

I‘ve never spent this much on a new car and I will be highly critical in comparison to the Tesla, but within reason.

And FWIW… Every Ford I have had or driven is riddled with QC issues and low quality plastic parts that break or just stop working… yet they‘re still selling hand over fist

Couldn’t help but notice the stack of Blue Def boxes on the wall in front of the R1S in the last pic :giggle:

Those wheels would probably be my last choice (besides the 21s), BUT they are really growing on me. I like the more every time I see them.

Is that going to be necessary during my oil changes or do they just do it to bump up the cost? How often is it really needed?

A couple recent Portland, OR sightings :

Damn that launch green looks good under those overcast PNW skies!

Also, no surprise about the retail location. Hard to go glamping in your R1T without the necessary Filson leather camping accoutrements! ? (I'm so jealous of everything about this shot.)
