I drive by the Palo Alto Rivian office from time to time and its fun to see more and more Rivian vehicles in the parking lot. Last month I'd see about 5-10 R1Ts. Today there were about 20 R1Ts in the lot. Plus this guy. Has owner plates.

Looks to be a production vehicle, being registered in California. Nice.

Does anyone know how much load the spare tire can handle? If I am not mistaking, R1S payload is 1800 lb. If I max out the tongue weight and have to replace the tire with spare, can I keep going safely?

Really love the look of the R1S. The lines are cleaner than the R1T. The rear passenger door windows make more sense to me on the R1S. And I like the flatter bumper accent on the R1S verse the almost exhaust looking accent line on the R1T.

That rear wiper is tiny...
There's a picture of one of them dirty from winter driving and the wiper clears off the tiniest section of window. It's probably about 30% of the window. I tried to find the photo, didn't have any luck yet.

@bsaik Thanks for the picture. I'm having trouble identifying the color from the photo. What did it look like to you in person?

Wish they’d make it bigger and hide it up top like most premium SUVs do.

I think the issue is the aspect ratio of the rear glass. Notice the apex of the arc is very close to the top of the glass. Unfortunately unless they can invent a wiper that telescopes at the lower ends of the arc, that's just the way it has to be.

I agree it’s not great, but it also depends on what you are comparing it to.

It’s definitely no worse than the rear visibility on my JK Wrangler Unlimited hardtop. Not only is the wiper tiny but the glass is small and the spare tire/rear headrests block everything else. My JK also has no backup camera so it’s a best guess most of the time.

I think the R1S is going to be just fine no matter how small the rear wiper is

There's always the option for dual wipers although very few vehicles have ever implemented this.
