With some Launch Edition deliveries currently listed for as late as July/August - offering things like this and the Max Pack this soon just feels….. I dunno, if I try to switch to a Max pack with the removable roof, would I actually get it still this year in place of my "June/July" LE window? Or would I be bumped to way later?
Later. But maybe only q1 2023.

Removable roof option on an R1S would be a dream. Installing a Dormobile-like kit would be so easy, then we’d see conversions like this:

Rivian R1T R1S Removable Roof Coming in 2022 8AA975A2-8D28-4C42-AEA2-797AB8C318C1

Trying to understand what they mean here. Like will I be able to select this option since my vehicle is supposed to be delivered in mid-22 or it’ll be an option for new vehicle orders that are placed in mid-22 (and delivered in, I’m guessing, 2037?)

‘That makes sense. Removing and storing smaller glass is more manageable. But doing it in R1S would be a whole new level of functionality. Imagine the car camping you can do with that setup and the accessories that allows you to standup in an enclosed R1S.
My understandings of the R1S is that the glass roof is in 2 panels. 1 that covers the front, and 2nd row, and another panel that covers the 3rd and trunk. The pictures I can find of the R1S confirm this.

That being said, I would bet that only the front panel would be removeable (if they ever get to that point), and the rear glass would be permanent. I get what you are saying, and for the adventurous people that they claim this truck is made for, it would make sense. But I am hedging my bets that the rear glass will be permanent.

You’d get it in 2023, which is when they’re producing the max pack orders.

It’s easy enough on a glass roof one. Just cut the sealant and pull the glass. ?

It may not be structurally sound but what a beautiful world that would be if you lost that bet ;)

Hadnt thought of that. I’ll remember that when a branch falls through it! I’d sooner use the $$ for the pop-up upgrade over replacement glass.

I think the latter.

The removable roof won’t be glass.

This is one of two options I’ve been holding out for. The other is the max battery, even though they called me and tried to get me to switch to the large, so I could get it sooner. Lol.
