I’m actually glad they are getting it to the employees first. Selfishly, I want them to shake out any issues - but it’s also a good perk for being a Rivian employee.
I completely agree with getting it to employees first but had hoped that would be Q1 to allow an early or mid Q2 delivery for consumers rather than very late in June
Me too!!! I’m excited for the R2 and it can’t come soon enough. I’m hoping to be able to get the LE (Day 1 reservation), but not a current Rivian owner so if I can’t get the LE, I’ll wait for the new hardware stack.
Are they defaulting on their commitment if they deliver customer vehicles in June? Seems like they have so few SKUs they can just build for inventory in Launch Green with Black Crater Signature interior and not need to wait for a customer configuration, because what would be left to configure. They would sell everything they could make. If they are actually supporting more color options in early production then it makes sales straight from stock even less of an issue.
The markets would care and their credibility would be hit if they had not met the end of Q2 commitment that they had repeatedly made. On track but close at the moment.
No they are not defaulting, I agree with you about the configurations and it is sensible for them to have streamlined the choices. Just that June and it sounds like mid June for customer deliveries is very close to end of Q2.
June is end but if they start employee deliveries in April those are still deliveries and that is the beginning of Q2.
