With a Gen 1 R1T, I don’t expect a whole lot in the way of significant updates, although this last one was pretty good - finally seemed to fix the A/C settings memory, Launch Mode, Sport Mode settings, etc.

But, it is annoying when they mess up a good thing or fix something that ain’t broke. With 2026.03, Rivian reduced the font size used for the Trip Meter m/kWh and kWh consumed data, to the point it’s very difficult to read from the driver’s seat, without perfect vision. I pay attention to this data all the time, on every drive, and it constantly pisses me off that it’s now so darn hard to read. For my first 2 1/2 years of ownership the font was a reasonable size, bold, and easy to read. Why the heck would Rivian change it? Makes no sense. As a constant annoyance, more than any other thing, I hope Rivian reverts to the original display format, ASAP.

Nothing. I'm having a hard time justifying paying $2,500 for ADS without some new features.
My experience with Rivian self-driving is that it remains well short of ready for prime time. Not sure I'll ever buy it, but no way in it's current state.

Starting to hear some talk on X about the looming assistant update. Hopefully we will be getting that soon. The wait might be do to that release

I think the uptake rate for UHF will be abysmal because what we currently have isn't worth paying for, IMO, and the trial ends tomorrow.

But if you had to "guess" what you will be talking about in your upcoming Rivian software release video, what would it be 🤔😉

Rivian said during AI day that AI and text messaging would be released in the first quarter of 2026. That's obviously come and gone. I really just want text messaging .. like that feature alone SHOULD not be this complication or hard to integrate.

As someone who is not tech savvy at all, can someone explain to me how Rivian was able to showcase AI and text messaging in December, where it worked fine.. but still are having a hard time releasing it now? What would make it difficult to release if it the software was working in December?

Technical challenges are the theatre that sits in front of operational misalignment.

You work for a living right? Some times unforeseen circumstances change priorities and timing? unforeseen personnel change/shortage? unforeseen problems discovered? stubborn bug that is proving tough to crack? and anything else that could cause delays? What was demonstrated could have been designed to follow a script, a scenario they knew would work. albeit with some delay? And perhaps not everything was demonstrated because it just wasn't ready and still isn't ready? R2 launch is also very much priority #1? The software engineers might not be assigned to Google Assistant 100%? some might be assigned multiple things including R2 and whatever VW-Rivian JV has in the oven? And on top of R2 launch (and its software) they've also had to meet VW's deadline in order to unlock another $1B in funding?

We lived this long without whatever was promised... surely we will keep living until it is fulfilled?

I mean, we should all know by now that not everything said is a legal binding promise?

If they struggle with text messaging integration this bad, then they should hire better employees. That's great you're fine with paying 100k for a vehicle that doesn't have basic things, but the rest aren't.

Who says Google Assistant is only text integration?! Did you not watch the demo out of Autonomy Day? text integration is only a part of it.

Fine. You're right. Your car is totaled. Dump it. Goodbye.

Reading comprehension isn't your strong point. Bet that's not the first time someone's said that to you. Goodbye.

Bringing back to the OP, the answer I was looking for is "no". Thank you. ;-)

Seems like you were fine buying a 100k vehicle without basic things twice over :)

The car is great. But the software is lacking. And we've been promised a lot of things that Rivian hasn't delivered. People always make excuses for it, but the reality is, they need to do better. Simple functions shouldn't take over 4 years to integrate. Especially if you market your brand as "software leading".
