I'm definitely over thinking this but I want to act like I know what I'm doing next time I go to my plywood supplier and the fork lift guy helps me load up the truck😅. Appreciate any tips or feedback.
Did you slap the plywood and say "That's not going anywhere"?

I think some other post some place pointed me to this interesting gem. I have one, but sadly have yet to use it.

I have had this 8-foot extender for a couple of years now and have found it quite useful. I have used it several times, hauling lumber up to 12 feet. It makes securing long items easy and gives peace of mind that you can travel at normal speeds without an issue. The build quality is great.

That's pretty much what I do. If I know I'm gonna be hauling a thin load I'll usually throw a few spare 2x6 board scraps from the garage in the bed to get the stack height up enough that the straps compress down.

A hard flip out bed extender isn't going to be long enough for 4x8 sheets a net would help but is quite cumbersome. The bag end one with straps would be the safest option. If you need more support at the end you can also get a cheap hitch extender from harbor freight. Used this for our 14' kayak in my old Ram.

Thanks, and I see how you went back to the same anchor point instead of using the metal latches on the liftgate. I definitely want to avoid damaging the liftgate latches

You can also use the tow hitch slots as anchor points but a pain to get too with the tailgate down.
