Hello everyone. I figured I would post this as some might find it interesting. I left out locations and some other details out of respect for his privacy.
This weekend my family and I were returning from a cruise. As we were standing in line at the terminal for our flight I noticed a guy that looked familiar walking towards us. It's funny because I instantly recognized him but the first thought that went through my head was "hey, that guy is like a better looking version of Steve O". I quickly did a double take as I realized it was RJ Scaringe. I nodded at him (no idea why) and he nodded back as if to say "yep, it's me" lol. So he walks past us and I tell my wife who it is and she doesn't believe me. I've been a fan of the company for years now but have been heavily researching it over the last 6 months/year because we are invested. It was just so strange to see the guy that we have been talking about so often recently.
So he walks by and then stops right in front of us, near the gate. I said "Rivian right?" and he said "yep", then I said "just wanted to say hello, I'm a big fan" (or something like that). Then he initiated a handshake and that was that. We saw him again as we walked by first class and then at baggage claim. We happened to leave baggage claim a few minutes after he did and saw him get into the driver's seat of a plum purple (not sure what the name of the color is) R1T with large white wheels. Apparently somebody dropped the car off for him so he was able to hop right in just outside of baggage claim.
Anyway, that's my story of briefly meeting RJ Scaringe. The whole thing was kind of trip because, like I said, I've been researching Rivian so heavily over the last couple of months. Also, I've seen people comment on his height being as low as 5'8" but usually around 5'10". I am 5'10" and that guy is easily 6'1" and more likely 6'2". He is also in very good shape, seems like a genuinely nice dude and my wife now has a crush on him so there's that.
