I searched, I promise.

New to me 23 R1T. First EV and trying to learn everything. First questions:

1) does anyone recognize these running boards? Came with the vehicle. Not sure I like them-- probably coming off, but want to know what they are for resale purposes. My experience with running boards is that they are a good way to get your pant leg dirty when getting in/out.

2) My commute includes a 20 minute ferry ride where I end up sitting in my car. On previous vehicle I could push start button twice to shut down radio, lights, etc while I was still in vehicle. How do I do that in my Rivian?

When on the ferry I think you are describing camping mode. There are a number of variables you can set within camping mode ... Camping mode is intended to shut down all the lights and sounds so as to not disturb others while you are still using the parked vehicle.

1) Looks like EVBase maybe?
2) Turn of the headlights and chill. As long as it's in park, you'll be fine for 20 min. and you'll likely want HVAC capability anyway.

I can't speak for the running boards, but one of the major benefits of an EV is most of them don't "turn off". You can sit in the car/on the ferry while:
- Watching Youtube/casting movies
- Relaxing with the HVAC running with seat ventilation/heating

It remains quiet and doesn't bother anyone. Just turn off the headlights manually with the stalk knob.

Hey neighbor (from across the water- I'm on Vashon decent amount and live near Point Defiance)! As everyone else is saying, don't worry about turning it off, though it will of course turn itself off if you choose to leave the truck on your short ride.

If you decide to sell those running boards, I might be interested! Currently going back and forth between running boards or rock sliders.

I will let you know. 95% for sure I'm selling but need to get a close look.

As far as leaving it "on" on the ferry, the little hairy dude was telling me my climate control was working hard, so I thought I would turn it off.

You can turn climate control off really easily with two touches. If, however, that system is being used for cooling the battery then it'll run anyway.

I thought I turned it off, but it kept running. I would think it wouldn't need to cool the battery--it was in the low 40s and had only been driven for 10 minutes.

Much to learn!

Those look like EVBase running boards, just like mine.

Your headlights will stay on if you put it in Park and just sit there. You can manually turn them off on the gear stalk OR just open and close the door. Then they will time out and shut off and be ready for the next time you press the brake pedal to turn back on instead of messing with the gear stalk.

Agree-- they look the same as yours. Thanks!

Also thanks for the suggestion on the door solution. Sometimes analog is still the best way.😅

Does the ferry operator come around and verify the vehicle of off as part of the safety regulations?

Not if you're not spewing exhaust.

It's more a case of me wanting to max out my charge.

You can hold down on the temp to quickly turn it off and on too.

As long as the vehicle is in park there is minimal draw from the main battery. Could get out and walk away but it will not realistically save any significant range.

running boards #1 benefit is protecting against door dings - someone opens their door hard it bangs against the RB and the only damage is to that $%^&*'s car or truck....fun times.

when the truck kneels you dont really need any kind of step, maybe if you run and leave in highest mode and cancel Kneel.... but as a ding deflector RBs are great
