- Mercedes EQE, Rivian R1S
That might have been true circa 2020. All of the newer Teslas have been in have been much better put together than my rattletrap R1S. I can't stand how cheap the interior door pull feels. Clicks and creaks when you push on it. Passenger seat rattles constantly when I drive, rattles in both B pillars. Sure, the interior materials look nice but it's far from premium once it gets going and you hear all the rattles and clunking.Tesla changed consumer tolerance of uneven panel gaps. It's stuff only Sandy Munro fetishes over. Most people don't care anymore. They don't see it from the driver seat. And Rivian interiors are better put together than Teslas. And that's what most Tesla owners notice and give praise.
I'm still getting an R2 -- but I don't think it's accurate that the build quality in my R1S is better a Tesla -- it just has nicer materials.
