It seems that for safety and autonomy features cannot be controlled via voice.
That's...unfortunate. It's far less safe to require menu diving to toggle things like that.

Can someone tell me the subscription cost of Connect+ please?

Not a Rivian owner yet

I was thinking the same thing. Gen1, non C+, we don’t get RivAss, right? We’re stuck with Alexa? We should still be able to use RivAss with low level basic commands.
I agree. if I want text messaging I have to pay for connect plus? I can’t use my phone as a hotspot and get that functionality?

So you’ve not read the whole thread?

It seems all but confirmed that there will be a more limited version of Rivian Assistant that doesn’t require Connect+. Likely, that will include all functionality that doesn’t actually need an internet connection, which a Bluetooth connection to your phone doesn’t.

Beyond that, the specifics as to what features are available on what hardware with what subscriptions is a complete unknown, and the best we can do is speculate.

All but confirmed to be coming... at some point... maybe... and in some form... maybe... Yeah, that not at all vague...

And there has been no confirmation that offline processing comes to Gen 1. In fact, at AI Day they all but said offline AI won't be coming to Gen 1.

Exactly. We’ve got nothing but speculation.

Who has fully tested the current build of RA aside from Rivian?

Cause even if “Wassym said x would be available”, we know many features are not true, yet…though s00n. Haha And yes, we’ve had many improvements.

Plus many of you will be complaining even more, when things break. So enjoy what you have, for now.

And, don’t ask no CP or AA.

You should still be able to stream from your phone and have some basic RA control, like volume. And whatever voice assistant you have on the phone to control the Amazon Music app on it?
If Bluetooth didn't suck and USB audio was enabled, that'd be great.
I don't understand the product strategy unless it is just about a revenue stream.

While I can drive very well and safe, I have hands that were burned in a fire and my fingers don't finger like they used to; so voice control in my Model X was very welcome over trying to turn a tiny knob for temp or fan speed from my prior car. The all digital control on my 2026 R1T means I don't adjust temp etc once I start driving.

There are good uses for voice command. I'd imagine many a folks with arthritis or other hand issue would find it a welcome advanced in technology if it worked well.
Honestly, I had not even began to think down the path of accommodations for those without the same abilities as I, or what potential control and safety implications that might have.

Appreciate the insight, and apologies for overlooking something that should've been more obvious.

That's not say I don't loathe bad implementations when companies try to digitize a workload that's best suited for analog...changing the vent direction in the rivian is classic case of this. How are they gonna voice command that ?

"Hey Rivian, less air on my crotch, more on my face please" ??

If they can implement that command I'll gladly eat that crow.

Honestly, they can't screw up the vents much worse than they already have. #1 hated "feature" of my truck by a country mile!
