Anyone Successfully Added Keys to Two Apple Watches for the Same User?

Hi - I have an iPhone 16 Pro and two Apple watches, Series 10 (2024) and Ultra 3 (2025). I was wearing the Series 10 last night when I set up the Key for my iPhone and during that process the Key also was automatically installed on my Series 10.

I am now trying to add a Key to my Ultra 3 but I am now seeing an Could Not Add Card - There was a problem adding your card to your Wallet. You can try again later or if the problem persists, contact the card issuer.

I tried powering off/on the iPhone and Ultra 3 but no luck.

The way I am trying to add the Key to Ultra 3 is as follows:

• Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to “Wallet & Apple Pay,” select your Rivian Digital Key, and follow the prompts to add it to your watch.

Sorry that I cannot offer a solution. I have a similar issue with my Apple Watch Ultra2. Digital key works fine on the iPhone 16 PRO Max but I cannot add the card to my Apple Watch. Restarted everything and all the software is up to date.
I am using the same procedure as the OP to try to add the card to the Apple Watch wallet.
Not quite sure what to do next to fix this issue.

I’m having the same challenges. Updated the software on all devices, restarted and still doesn’t resolve the issue. The last resort will be to remove the key off of one Apple Watch and see if it will then successfully add it to my other watch (series 11, cellular) , just to confirm if it’s a watch issue or Rivian limitation.

I did not resolve it, I reached out to Rivian on their website but interacted with AI bot and could not find a way to open a ticket to have a human investigate if the issue is something they need to fix. I am also reluctant to remove the existing key as it is working well and I don't want to completely lose Watch access. At this point, I am just going to wait for the next update at the end of the month and hope it lets me add keys to two watches.

Same issue - IPhone 16Pro w/ AW Ultra 2 & AW 10. Added during day to AWU2 fine. Can’t add to AW10. Figured it’s a limitation on Rivian as no issues with payment apps, workout apps or subscriptions apps.

I just had this issue as I bought a new Apple Watch Ultra 3 but still wanted to keep my Apple Watch 10. After doing some research, it appears this is a Rivian limitation.

Apple Wallet is the app that sends the key to the watch. Rivian decides how many keys can get sent from the phone. They decided one. Ask RJ for more.

Apple will let other wallet contents to be sent to multiple watches. I went to an Ultra watch for the battery. My old series 6 battery would not last a day what the new Rivian. Would have liked to keep the 6 active and use it when I’d beat up the watch doing stuff.

Exactly this ^. I kept my old watch for when I am working around the house, etc. and was able to duplicate most of my passes, cards, etc. except the Rivian key, a couple of my transit passes, and my work access badge. I guess I just wish Rivian had a more informed message when trying to add the extra key. My others that didn't allow it literally told me the card issuer only allowed it to be active on one watch at a time.
