HALF the performance colors are "premium" at 2k. Ridiculous. You really gonna make black a premium color? R1 owners are willing to pay for colors but that's a completely different market. All the model Ys on the roads are white for a reason. There will be tons of Esker Silvers on the road. I expected Catalina Cove to be costly, but like others said, most ix3 colors are 600 with ONE premium color at 3k+.

And a heated steering wheel on the ox is $200 but it’s really a few grand once bundled with other tech you want.

Can you pick up at the factory? That would be great. Pre Covid Tesla gave factory tours for new owners, but not delivery. My dad talked about picking up a Hudson in '48 from the factory!

Bc Tesla is their main competition and it's the market rate? These legacy OEM's people keep talking about with their $650 paint or whatever cost more money at MSRP than R2 does. So sure buy an iX3 for $61.5k starting MSRP + $650 paint lol. R2 is still cheaper and this is the highest trim at $57,990. Premium trim is $53,990.

I would argue that is far more acceptable to the general car buying audience to see the main price up front rather than layering it with high cost paint options which are disconnected from reality. It’s a matter of perception. If the price was intended to be $60k then that would be a better starting point rather than feeling like you got “ripped off” for paint/color options which are clearly disconnected from the actual production cost.

As for the competition, we are well beyond the days of just chasing Tesla (Which has a unique fanboy customer base anyway). Rivian is chasing the mainstream, including EV makers like BMW and Hyundai, neither of which have disconnected paint and color pricing.

Woohoo! I’m checking it out now. Paint options are expensive for a smaller vehicle with dark gray painted front and rear bumpers ($1,000-$2,000), but cheaper than buying a decent professionally installed wrap ($6,000 avg?) Forest Green, Borealis, and Coastal Cloud Interior available in late 2026. I wish the Coastal Cloud Interior had a dark headliner. Pretty sweet overall though and I bet Rivian sells tons of them. Let’s go!

Federal law? State law? I can see it with competing with the normal dealership franchise model, but what's the harm in the Tesla and Rivian model?

Looks like I'll be waiting for a little while, because I want Borealis paint and the light interior. I've waited 2 years, I can wait another 8 months to get the R2 I want.

LE can come with Borealis and Coastal Cloud! You just have to wait long enough for them to be released AND for LE to still be available... Here's to hoping!

I think they’ll be selling LEs at least until the end of the year when those other color options become available. Maybe even into early 2027. If the demand is there they’ll make them. Profits will soar.

Interesting that the Premium is only $2k more than a Standard AWD and you get a lot for that $2k - upgraded interior, stereo, rear glass. Wonder if Standard AWD is same performance as Premium.
