I picked up my 2026 R1T in February (Vancouver Canada) and it has the new Tesla/NACS charge port. I went on my first road trip to Idaho and got directed to the Spokane RAN to recharge. They only had the CCS1 chargers and I forgot to pack my adapter for the trip. Even if I set the charging option to no adapters it only sent me to CCS1 charging stations. Has anyone else had this problem or know how to correct it. Next time i will make sure to pack the adapter, but it does seem it’s a software glitch to me.

I think there might be a bug in either the nav software or the map data, because it was telling me I’d need an adapter at CCS chargers the other day.

you can prefer the supercharger network and see what that does. And also try with the adapter setting turned on. But sounds like a bug.

Is this your first EV? I ask because it seems to me that there were many missed opportunities here, not just the forgotten adapter and the problems with the app. For the best experience, you have to think about charging differently than you think about fueling up with gas. You probably have 50 years or more of experience driving ICE vehicles, and that has shaped your behavior and expectations and assumptions when taking road trips, to the point that you don't even think about thinking about some things.

Resiliency is the name of the game, and if you're interested I can describe how I would approach that trip so that even if I ran into trouble I wouldn't be stuck or worried about completing my journey.

RAN stations, including Happy Valley OR, are starting to alter the ratio of CCS-1 to J-3400 (NACS) ports, to reflect expected demand. Sorry you didn't benefit from the same at Spokane Valley!

EDIT: As of 2026-06-02, the RAN at Astoria, Oregon has only CCS-1 ports -- no J-3400s yet. So it seems the transition is proceeding location by location....

Eh. Nothing burger. It’s not a “bug” on the Rivian side. It’s Tesla who hasn’t updated their system to know MY26-on Rivians have NACS, or they just don’t care. Your Rivian is just pulling data about Superchargers that Tesla has put out to everyone else. As long as you are going to a location that Tesla has opened to other brands, you can ignore what is said about adapters.

Sounds like a bug-- my 2026 R1T identifies chargers correctly (RAN sites show up as "adapter needed"; if I set the preferences to "no adapter" they disappear. The little elastic cargo net compartments in the Frunk are the perfect size to permanently store the CCS to NACS adapter so it's always ready

Yeah, it's a slow transition. The new Tigard one is all J3400, no CCS. Happy Valley is partially converted, and Astoria and Lincoln City are still all-CCS.
