For those of you getting close to lease return, has anyone bought cheaper replacement tires and been pleasantly surprised by the efficiency or performance?

I’m thinking EngineX tires may be a decent budget option for lease turn-in, especially if the goal is simply to meet the return requirements without spending premium-tire money.

We had a high end sport BMW a while ago, with stupid expensive tires. Which wore out fast due to both compound and my wife wanting to “test” the traction control and turbos on every drive. I ended up finding some sort of Chinese or Korean tire for $70 that actually outperformed the Michelin Super Sports in most ways.

That said, for lease return I’d go to the shady part of town, find a shack with used tires, and get it done for $100 for a full set mounted.

while i normally feel like "you get what you pay for" when it comes to tires, I think there can be a middle ground. good used tires can be found for great deals. I also recently took a gamble on a brand I had never heard of, they were half the price of the big brands but still not the cheapest. I have been really happy with the quality. The ones i got were Radar tires. I purchased radar renegade a/t5 and they have been excellent on my dually. affordable, quiet, ride nice, balanced nice and look good. if it were me for a lease return I would look for the cheapest set of decent used tires and throw them on. i see quite a few sets pirelli take offs from rivians for pretty cheap..

I second this question. Can anyone out there provide first hand info on the return process and how picky they are with tire tread and rim damage? I've got 15 months left on my lease so I'm pretty sure the tires won't make it but I am curious about rim damage.
