Mobile service on gravel or dirt?

If I wanted to schedule mobile service to come do a tire rotation, for example, would it be ok that we only have a gravel driveway? Or packed dirt? The only pavement by us is the highway, but we have a whole lot of packed dirt and gravel in reasonably level areas.

I just don't want to waste everyone's time having them come all the way out here, just to not be able to do the work.

I called and asked; I was told it would probably be fine, but not in a particularly convincing manner. So I scheduled a mobile service appointment, and made sure to add a comment to let the technician know ahead of time what the situation is.

It would be a defensible policy to only do work that requires lifting any of the wheels off the ground on level concrete, IMO. But let us know!

As long as it relatively level and non-moving hardpack they shouldn't have any objections. It's not like they'll be crawling under your vehicle. IIRC, they use those specialized jack stands with the built in hydraulic jacks, they won't be rolling a floor jack over dirt/gravel.

I agree! I expected they’d just say no outright, but mobile service is definitely the most attractive option here in rural New Mexico.

Well, mobile service showed up today and did a tire rotation on a reasonably level area of packed dirt! This is way better than the long drive to Colorado Springs!

Apparently there are two mobile service techs for all of New Mexico, Southern Colorado, and the El Paso region of Texas.
