If the video above is anything like another one I watched, it also went over the physical slowing that happens due to the magnetic field so that it's not just generating electricity but actively slowing the vehicle down. It was really cool...... but I think it's buried in my YouTube watch history...

His videos are always a good watch, as are a few others that handle odd technology.

As far as the dummies part of your post. I don't understand why Rivian doesn't allow drivers to completely turn off the regeneration. On my test drive I was getting motion sickness because it was so strong. I had it on the lowest setting and I've been using compression braking on commercial trucks for many years.

Coasting is very effective. Having the regen braking kicking in so quickly as if I were applying strong brake pressure was uncomfortable. I would much prefer it if the brake pedal started the regen and if pressed hard the physical brake kick in.

*I tried keeping a small amount of pressure on the pedal to keep it from kicking in but my short test drive didn't allow me to feel comfortable with it.
