I’ve got a reading comprehension course tip to help since you seem to need it.
Ok I will own up. What did I miss? Were you trying to be funny when you wrote:
"I'm not worried about that as long as RJ is in charge. He's not a typical CEO devoted solely to money."

Kick-Turn just buries you in sand, which is a bummer.
I always say "The vehicle never gets itself stuck, the driver gets the vehicle stuck."

This is 1000% true in your case. You used kick turn in the sand???? Common sense would prevent me from even trying it.

But for those without common sense, the manual CLEARLY SAYS
⚠ DANGER - NEVER USE KICK TURN IN ... SAND!!!!

How is Rivian responsbile for your negligence? RTFM.

What part of the word solely do you not get?

Don't know why so many people cannot simply accept you're going a different way than what you have had. Maybe how the original post started?

...
Read some of the other threads he created and it will be very clear why he is getting this response.

"I'm not worried about that as long as RJ is in charge. He's not a typical CEO devoted solely to money." Lol you are hanging your hat on the fact that you said "solely"? So someone who is what, 99.986% devoted to money is ok and you trust them? Or is it 89.3% devoted? Or are you really looking for someone who is 38.1% devoted or less before you start to worry? And how do you measure percent devoted exactly? As an aside, I think you will not find anyone solely devoted to money. Even the old Phrygian Midas was not solely devoted to money (as he discovered the moment he got hungry).

You are making your original foolish statement look even more foolish with your clumsy attempt to find a way to be technically correct rather than acknowledging your obviously ill-informed perspective.

I’m going to break the lease and move into an EV BMW X5 for now. I want Apple CarPlay, dependable safety cameras, a great ride, a huge sunroof and a vehicle my family actually feels comfortable using.

Longer term, I’m very interested in the Scout from Volkswagen. It looks like it may deliver the rugged capability and electric experience I originally hoped Rivian would provide, so I’ll be watching closely.
Do you mean a hybrid X5 as the EV version won't be in the states for about a year. Also the Scout is a Rivian from a tech perspective so after your experience I would imagine that is off the table too.

Good luck

Several sources indicated the 2027 iX5 (ev) will be available here this fall, manufactured in Spartanburg ....we'll see

I'm on my 3rd Rivian R1 as well (two T's and S). All fantastic rides with few issues since 2022 and about 50K miles in total driving. Original T had the front motor control unit replaced and the local service center was fabulous. S was trouble-free. Current '25 R1T has been reliable other than a couple charging hiccups - ironically both happening at Rivian stations. Just saying there are others out here having fruitful Rivian experiences and devoted Riviot for life!

Salty sand? No thanks.
Yea, us up here where it snows don't get much choice. I already have rust showing on my truck despite being only 22mo since delivery. Salt/Sand/Moisture is a recipe for destroying a vehicle.

I guess I got lucky compared to some. I have had some issues, leaking dampers, loose window trim, tonneau cover replaced, and the fixes they have had a recall on. Over 4 years in on VIN 10414, I have had nothing that ever made me feel unsafe, uncertain about making it anywhere, anything that makes me doubt my decision to buy it. No lights, faults, refusing to perform whatever I asked of it. Have had CP for years in other vehicles and have too much Apple ecosystem at home, could care less it is missing. USB streaming should be standard and that irritates me more than CP/AA. Bake it in to Connect+, would keep that anyway.

Every vehicle will have issues, rolling computers are still new. You saying your PC has never imploded, your phone never needs a reboot? Home many people still have the blue screen of death ingrained in their memory? We are at 30+ years in with Microsoft and Windows 11 is still garbage, Rivian is 5 and more stable. I have never seen a post saying a Rivian struck an emergency vehicle, ran over motorcyclists because it relies on cameras only. Never been told to park outside because it may experience spontaneous combustion. We will always have varying degrees of issues with any MFG, but I have to give Rivian credit where it is due.

Deal breaker for me will be if Rivian decides to sell data. In my mind if you plan on profiting off of all of us, your offerings should be 100% free. At that time I think I will restore an old HiLux and put a CD changer in it.

Best of luck to all who buy anything nowadays, all products are a crapshoot at best.

Sorry the truck didn't work out for you, sounds like you're making the right decision for you -- best of luck, safe travels.

These posts are amazing....

People come in to make sure ALL of us know they're leaving, even though we have no idea who they are.

Then, we find out the majority of their issues are user error.
