I just purchased a new-to-me R1T LE through a third party. It is still 15,000 miles and 8 months inside the Rivian warranty. I live 250 miles from the nearest service center (sad) but Rivian owners in my area say the mobile service is great. I want to schedule a comprehensive inspection before the warranty expires, and I am curious if it's worth driving up to the SC (~ 5 hours) or just doing the mobile service for the inspection? I called customer service this morning and they said the inspection is exactly the same for mobile or at the SC, which is not what I've read online. What do you all think?

The one time I've had the regular inspection done, it was in my garage - so they wouldn't be able to get underneath it very well to look at it. Maybe they put it up on a lift at a service center, but they might do the same mobile service-level inspection to save lift time for vehicles that absolutely need it.

I say unless there's something that seems wonky to you that could need time on a lift, have the mobile service come out to you and do the inspection. With the R1T & R1S, they can at lease raise the vehicle to take a look at some parts of the suspension without putting the vehicle on a lift.

I actually asked a mobile tech yesterday about this... He said it's an SC appointment, not mobile.

It's a no brainer to do but I'd get it performed at the SC when you get closer to it actually expiring through miles or months. I had it done for $256.00+tax and they fixed a few issues, replaced my 12 volt (again) and measured brakes/rotors remaining. Some have had suspension components replaced so it's definitely worth doing prior to it going out of warranty or could cost you thousands.

I wonder what the 'comprehensive inspection' that happened in my garage was, then....

In my region, I have had excellent experiences with both. The tech who did the mobile (replaced the 12v battery) also did a complimentary end-to-end look-over; capped off the washer fluid, checked the tires, etc. He was here over an hour. If you can get a mobile tech, I say go for it.

Preparing for a series of road trips over the next weeks, I had the regional SC do the full inspection. I got the checklist of everything they looked at; tires rotated, etc. Glad for it. Peace of mine. Took, perhaps about an hour.

Just had this conversation with the service center in Phoenix last week. Rivian will not schedule the recommended 9k miles inspection with mobile. In the app, when you try to schedule the appointment, it says mobile not available. Service center said it must be done at service center because they put it up on the rack for inspection of some components. The list of items inspected is long.

Weird. I have the 9K inspection scheduled for next week, as a mobile service. I didn't request mobile service, they suggested it.

As with many things Rivian Service related, consistency is clearly king!
