Introducing the 2027 R1 -- R1S / R1T

They've sold plenty of R1 vehicles at the current or maybe slightly lower price point for a few years now - since the middle of 2024, in fact. Demand seems to be right about where they are expecting it (maybe even a little higher, since they raised sales guidance this year on the strength of R1 sales in the first half of the year....)

hmm ok - when I was in the market just about a year ago, leases for dual standards were in the $700 range to start.

A near two-fold increase was a shock.

I'm so glad I saw this. What do you have against people who want a free infotainment option? Why the christ would you want to PAY to use the media apps when your phone has a superior connection, and all the latest platform features? Why would you advocate for less consumer choice? Why would you advocate to make infotainment software COST MORE to the end user? I can't see not complaining unless they made EVERYTHING in the infotainment media stack free to everyone forever.

There's also the elephant in the room that NO manufacturer will EVER be able to compete 1:1 with apple/android apps unless Rivian literally pays Apple/Android engineers directly to ensure immediate feature parity. No matter how good the Rivian assistant gets, it'll NEVER have the ability to keep up with the development pace in the smartphone world. It's a WORSE experience to have to wait for features to be ported.

It's a TERRIBLE experience to have to switch between your phone and main infotainment screen for basic functions.

It’s Red Canyon (not Canyon Red, but that’s a common mistake)

I did notice that. I think they made the last batch and then it’ll be gone. Glad I have mine. I love the color.

AA/CP are great to use, we all hear you. However, this topic has been beaten to death on here so you must be new or haven't searched the forum. Rivian's UI is great too and they've made it very clear they're sticking with only that. It is what it is, Cheers!

One of the reasons a car company (or bank, in Rivian's case) decides to raise the lease payments amount is that there is enough demand for the vehicle that they believe that people will pay it. That, or cost of goods or some other factor is affecting the cost of the vehicle, but Rivian keeps talking about how much cheaper they have been able to make the R1 line for, so I'm guessing that's not the reason.

I am not a financial expert, however.
