Ok, so I clearly have too much time on my hands. But I was going through some pictures, and seemed to stumble on not 2, but 3 different looks for the lower rear lights. Wonder what the final delivery ones are going to look like. I think the first one of the FG R1S is the oldest, so guessing that's not the look anymore. But the R1T and R1S are both pretty recent, but the lights are much narrower on the truck. At least the wrapped R1S matches the online configurator. But neither of them match what's in the configurator for the R1T. Just curious. Doesn't appear to change with Adventure/Explore package, or off-road package either.

I noticed in the recent MT reviews that they light up during braking which I hadn't seen before I thought they were just reflectors. I would assume this is the final configuration right now but i do like the first prototype shown.

Hoping they are rear fog lights. I had them on my Volvo XC90 and loved them in harsh conditions. Saw them lit on a recent R1T video that looked like the larger bottom photo.

I don't think the brakes are applied in this photo. This would make me believe that the lights at the bottom are rear fog lights.

You're highlighting the difference between the "prototype" show vehicles from a couple years ago, and what is actually coming in the production vehicles.

The yellow R1T in your photos is what we're getting, and the blue version was the prototype. The camo'd R1S is the production model and the other photo was the prototype.

I believe that the Green R1S and the Blue R1T are both very early "show builds" (Note the lack of R1T badging on the truck).

The R1S and R1T definitely have different rear ends and it looks like what we're seeing recently in the wild matches the configurators.

Typically only the left side has a rear fog, so you donā€™t confuse them with brake lights. Thatā€™s typical, so not saying thatā€™s 100%.

Going by Rivian's "first production vehicle for customers rolling off the line" video, I think the thick, horizontal arrangement is the final one.

I'm not sure about today's designs, but Volvos that I owned a while back had rear fog lights on both sides.

In Europe, yes, a single fog light either centrally mounted or on the left.

In north America lots of cars that have rear fog lights have two.
