NEW Wireless Charging Pad confirmed - in my 2026 R1T. Works amazingly better!

I know this was reported on Rivian Trackr https://riviantrackr.com/news/rivian-r1-is-getting-a-new-magnetic-wireless-phone-charger/

But I can confirm after taking delivery of a new 2026 R1T on Wednesday that they are bringing the R2 wireless charging pad to the R1 Fleet.

And it works amazingly better! I had a Gen 1 R1T with the OG charging pad and rarely worked. Had a Cybertruck for 7 months and all that did was turn your phone into a hand warmer.

Rivian got it right on this one as well as the Gen 2 tonneau cover. Honestly the entire Gen 2 Rivian R1T is amazing, happy to be back. They make amazing vehicles.

I did look in the other 5 vehicles being delivered, all R1S and the 4 I looked into did not have the latest charging pad. Must have just rolled my truck off the line. Hope they offer a retrofit for everyone.

The Gen2 R1s are much better than the Gen1s, happy I upgraded last year. The pad in my Gen2 works great but interested to see how this one compares.

Their Gen 2 version you could pay to upgrade from the OG.

Is their an easy way to see how fast your phone is charging? I have an iPhone.

max rate is going to be 15 watts. I am curious how much you lose due to the mat and inefficiencies.

I've used Ampere test in the past. It works ok.

You can do that now with non-Rivian equipment. All we are waiting for is Rivian to release their version, which I am willing to bet will be at least $10k. I would rather spend that on a bunch of batteries.
