Correct me if I’m wrong, but Rivian made the air compressor (inflator/deflator) an option on the R1, because they had data that showed it was barely ever used. Taking it out of the Gen 2 R1s was a cost-cutting measure..

The R2 does not have an air compressor built in, but you can buy a portable one for $100 and up and plug it into the outlet in the back. Problem solved.

It's standard on R1, the camp speaker is the item that was rarely used so it's an option now.

The great team at the Venice event let me test my Model Y mattress and it fit pretty perfectly in the R2. Even the staff was impressed and asked if it was their product. Nice to have some good options day one to go camping in the R2! Delivery Day cannot come fast enough!

I was going to test my Lost Horizon too but didn’t want to push my luck.

This is great! Glad it’s compatible. The more competition the better.

Very nice but not for $500, per their website.

Honestly, I don't like inflated mattresses:
- It is either too soft or too hard, and
- unless you have a dual zone, when one person move the other one move also.

I'd like memory foam or latex mattress,
which offer superior motion isolation and consistent support.

I have a $60 Twin mattress from Ikea which fit perfectly,
is very comfortable, and don't take too much space when rolled.

I would imagine this company will make an R2 specific mattress. Yes, the one for the model Y fits, but it's off just a bit. There will be hundreds of thousands of R2's on the road some day, why not make one that's fits perfectly?

It's optional on later models I think. Either way it's an ARB compressor so anyone not having the compressor can consider the portable version or a viair.

If you go to the online configurator now, the base dual standard has it included along with the higher trims.
