Tesla Model Y Performance. Rivan on order. Honda S2000
I love my Tesla Y Performance. The FSD is what I use 90% of the time and going to an EV was an epiphany. Literally felt like time travel to the future. But I love Overlanding and even though I put Methods/AT tires, drawer system, bed, etc, it just isn’t built for what I want. I want an electric 4Runner and when the R2 was announced, it’s like RJ read my mind. The R1 was always way out of my price range and too big for me.

All that to say, I’m so stoked to get the R2 and the icing on the cake is to buy a product from as CEO I can respect.

Deliveries cannot start fast enough! And still holding out hope that they do cloud interior for launch edition. A man can dream!

I wanted a Rivian back in 2019 when I bought my Model 3 Performance. The Tesla has been awesome, a great commute vehicle, and a nice complement to my Jeep with a Hemi. The R1S is way too big, and frankly way too much money for a vehicle. The R2 isn't inexpensive, but it is the right size, and reviews make it seem like a really good value. Can't wait to have an R2 in my garage!

I've owned a 2020 Model Y LR and a 2024 Model Y LR. I currently have a 89% FSD usage from when Tesla started to track that after update 14.2. I love FSD and am amazed at the complex driving situations that it handles extremely well. People who do not know about this just don't have any clue that this feature exists. Most think I'm talking about traffic aware cruise control and they tell me "my car has that!" like I'm just an idiot. But, I will give up FSD to own an R2 and stop driving a moving bumper sticker for political bad behavior on the part of the CEO. I can't wait. My only dilemma is "what color will I choose?"

Similar boat. Wanted an EV but also want to overland, wife got a Tesla and I got a Jeep 4xE. Jeep had too many issues, not enough electric range, and the whole "could catch fire at any moment thing" so traded it in for a model Y but have a preorder in for R2. It's a later reservation, last year, but it checks all the boxes for what I want at a reasonable price. R1 is just way more than I am willing to pay for a vehicle right now. Been watching every video I can find on R2 while I impatiently wait for my turn. Looking forward to the Nashville block party so I can get in one and see it in person.

yep! I was looking at a Y to compliment my 3 to replace my BLazer EV, but I didn't want another car to look almost exactly like my 3, so time for something new and different! Don't think I could handle having two boring interiors.

Here as well. It will replace a 2018 Model 3 and be used as a mild adventure vehicle for camping & hiking.
We will keep our '21 Model Y for a bit longer, but I'm completely over Elon's BS, and not a fan of the direction of the company to say the least.

I’ve had my Model S for 12 years and have really enjoyed the driving experience. I’ve placed an order for the R2, though I don’t expect to purchase it until 2027. I’d like to test drive it especially to evaluate its LiDAR-based autonomy. I’m hoping Rivian can refine its software to be as good as, or close to, Tesla’s.

Yep, current owner of 2018 model 3, I paid for FSD but I'm on HW3 so I only have half of a working FSD and generally don't use it much. Looking forward to the R2 but I might just wait for the Tri-Motor version if I can bear it.
Same here.. my May 2018 M3 LR has been a great car (and It has FSD as well but I agree - not used much due to incapabilities at this point writ large)..

An R1T wasn’t a preferred vehicle, and the R1S for my/our needs was just TOO big and heavy.

I’m hoping the R2 really fits the bill for an SUV/Crossover size vehicle for handling, carrying and efficiency.

I keep seeing people say things like this ... But you know Rivian hasn't announced a 3 motor version yet, right? They've given timelines for other models, going into 2028, but no tri-motor yet.

It's mainly wishful thinking and right now. But I personally wouldn't wait for 2-3 just hoping it will come along. I will instead be driving and enjoying my LE R2 for those 2-3 years. And at that time I will probably buy a R3X

Technically a Tri-Motor version was announced at the initial reveal in 2024, but that was two years ago...

Consensus seems to be that it'll show up as part of the whole RAD thing.

I am not trading my Model 3 for R2.

While I wish of a big success for R2, we already have a R1S G1 Quad and do not need another Rivian.

My Model 3 is going to be replaced with a 4 door grand tourer, not a SUV

I plan to get an R2 a few years down the road when the new sensors and processors are incorporated. It will almost certainly not be a tri even if that version is available.

My Performance Dual Motor R1T provides near-quad performance at lower cost with the benefit of extra range. The R2 Performance should do the same vis-a-vis the tri-motor variant. Actually, even the Premium version of the R2 looks like it will provide pretty decent performance and at even lower cost.

I understand the desire for a tri R2, but based on my experience with PDM R1T, the extra performance juice from a tri-motor is probably not worth the cost of the squeeze.

2017 Model 3 Owner. Probably one of the first dozen or so in Illinois. I upgraded the computer when that became an option and have FSD. I'm glad I did as I was late getting a reservation and it will likely be another year before I'll be able to get an R2. I've been looking at Rivian for a while. I haven't been happy with the change in direction of Tesla for quite a while and the R2 looks like the perfect option as I plan to do a lot more travel and camping.
