Eh. Bit meaningless. Spec already announced. Config being open is separate from delivery. Considering the vast backlog they most certainly have, delivery could be long ways off for those who aren’t early reservation holders. These blog writers often reach too far for material and end up writing noise. Official announcements and developments is the only thing that matters.

No exact dates. Some mixed information for R2. Initially late 2026, but recent RJ interviews say early 2027.

R1 planning unknown for Gen 3.

That website actually takes everyone's data, especially rivian trackers and rips it off. We should flag the domain for theft of property consistently.

Didn't RJ say end of 2026? And besides, you don't really need it if you're talking about LiDAR. The point of LiDAR is to crowdsource autonomy data so that it could be used to make and improve autonomy for all cars (gen2 on and beyond) AND quickly catch up to Tesla's FSD.

By gen3 do you mean LIDAR?

Theoretically R2 launch comes with gen2 tech, right? Or is launch R2 considered R2gen1?

R2 will launch with gen 2. Then once they add LiDAR, gen3 with their RAP chip. And we'll probably see some bellyaching from gen 2 R1 owners... calling their cars abandonwagons. /s
