My estimate from last year was 1H2023. Then I went crazy and switched to an R1S in November 2022 only to switch back to Max Pack a few weeks later. Haven't had an estimate since then.
The January 31 delivery update emails have come and gone. I'm a whiny Max Pack reservation holder from July 2020.
I live so close to the factory, I see R1Ts and R1Ss driving around daily. (It was cool the first few sightings; it's torture now.)
On Feb 1, 2023, I'm at "Processing estimate" in...
I wonder how many of us max packers are left?
My reservation is july 2020. I have to be near the front of the max pack queue since it seems so many have opted for large battery. Wish I knew where in line I am.
So they HAVE shipped a few Adventure trim R1Ss. I just switched from a Max Pack and am awaiting my new R1S Adventure date in January. (Max Pack Order date: 7/2020)
Of course, in the sub-zero temps in the MidWest today, I'm thinking I might need to switch back to a Max Pack.
PS: If you guys...
I had an R1T Max Pack preorder from 2020, and I had access to the R1T Shop.
Just a few minutes ago, I changed my preorder to an R1S, and now I have access to the R1S shop. There are no vehicles in it, but it said to check back tomorrow.
Maybe some hope? Or maybe it will have that same...
The plan is to put in a new preorder for a max pack (ouch on the new pricing!), because we will tow that little trailer frequently.
When we get closer to the max pack delivery date (2024? 2025?) and we find the R1S large pack is doing fine, then we can always cancel the new max pack preorder.
If we're camping, the bikes will be on the back of the small camping trailer (hitch mount bike rack) and the kayak will be on top of the trailer.
If we're not camping and just driving to see the grandkids, we'd use a hitch mount bike rack for two mountain bikes on the back of the R1S.
We had...
Between the tonneau situation and the "sometime in 2024" delivery date projected for our July 2020 R1T max pack preorder, I'm thinking we just ditch the R1T max pack and go for the Adventure R1S and skip the tonneau headache.
Our needs:
The Rivian will be our long range vehicle in a...
these look great! but my max pack is so delayed I'm wondering if there will be changes between now and then that would render these useless. ha! probably not, but you never know.
(the real reason I don't buy them now is because they would be constant reminders that I have Rivian pucks but not...
Good point.
On the other hand, something good from the delay is maybe they'll have the powered tonneau cover sorted out by the time the first max pack delivers.
I should have mentioned all max pack people should sit tight (and not cancel or change).
Per an interview between Rivian Stories guys and Tony Caravano of Rivian, there will be more info for max pack people "within weeks."
Here's what max pack preorder holders have been told:
2018/2019 preorder confirmation email: "Production will begin in 2020. Fully equipped vehicles with the highest performance level and largest battery pack will enter production first. Our 180 kWh and 135 kWh packs will be available at launch...
I'm just shaking my head in disbelief.
we went from a jan 2022 delivery date (for a max pack ordered in summer 2020) to 1h2023 and just now it changed to jan-dec 2024. that's a 2 year slippage (assuming it delivers jan 2024).
If you’re close to the factory in Normal, they provide this service there. (I wasn’t even sure there was a service center there, but I assumed there was.)
My State Farm quote based on MSRP ($90,000) was $354/6 mos. I have $1,000 deductibles for comp and collision and discounts for multiple vehicles and for having homeowner's insurance.
