  3. My First and Likely Last Post

The OP’s reasoning is logical, except for the heavy reliance on the “Now You Know” videos. There’s another thread on this forum about their recent cold weather test, which was clearly click bait. It’s one thing when this type of misinformation generates a lot of YouTube views, but to see it...

  5. Reclaiming empty powered tonneau cover space

Good point. I measured mine and the top panel is only 4” wide in the center and 5.5” at the sides. This would not be good for access.
  6. Underbody jacking panels, leave them off?

I recently installed new wheels & tires. Because I don’t have a spare and my EV Sportline kit hasn’t arrived yet, I followed the instructions in the manual (starting on P. 216) for lifting the truck with a non-Rivian jack, which says to remove the underbody panels to expose the frame rails...
  7. Reclaiming empty powered tonneau cover space

Thanks for doing this and sharing. I’d like to use this area for storage and don’t care about a tonneau. To do this it would be preferable to access the area from the top rather than the back. Did you happen to explore the potential to remove the top cover? I noticed a bracket attaching it. I...
  8. Who Hasn’t Had a Service Call?

12/22 delivery, about 2,000 miles, no issues, no service, nothing.
  9. Tested 35" tires on the R1T - for offroading / overlanding

Update: I have the new wheels & tires installed. I have the wheels described above (20x9”, +25mm offset), with 285/60/20 BFG AT KO2 tires. @Rexbo For the table at the beginning of this thread- After driving this setup a few hundred miles on the street, I’ve had the front tires rub in low &...
  10. My cobbled together budget spare

Good point. One thing I don’t love about that one is the super long extension used with the 1/2” socket & the long arm. It might be hard to get a lot of torque on it with such a long extension. Yesterday I installed new wheels on my truck, which included torquing the lugs to the specified...
  11. BFG 285/60/20 tires with 20" aftermarket wheels installed (+ blacked out badges & light bars tint)

Thanks! TPMS update. After about 18 miles of driving, all four sensors seem to be working correctly now.
  12. BFG 285/60/20 tires with 20" aftermarket wheels installed (+ blacked out badges & light bars tint)

My truck came with 22’s, and I wanted another set of wheels/tires that would work in snow and off road. I chose these 20” wheels because of their +25mm offset, decent looks and attractive price. I wanted the biggest, widest tires that would not rub too much. I almost got 295/60/20’s because...
  13. Motortrend's Rivian R1T Yearlong Review: Winter Snowstorms Tire Out Our Electric Pickup (but it handled everything the mountain threw at it)

He also didn’t know how to use the on board air compressor. Many tools were available to lower the odds of these problems. But a funny thing about tools is that they aren’t helpful when not used.
  15. My cobbled together budget spare

There’s been several threads about wheels, including these Ram wheels. Here’s one.
  16. My cobbled together budget spare

I wanted a cheap spare wheel/tire/jack setup, and I don’t require perfection because it will be used or seen rarely if ever. So I bought a used Ram 1500 wheel on eBay for $150 (total including shipping). Others have found these cheaper. The wheel had some scratches, which I sanded out & then...
  17. Anybody been dealing with TPMS 24/7?

Update on my TPMS sensor order from Amazon. About a week after I placed the order, Amazon cancelled it, saying the item is not available. So I called Tire Rack back, and they had them in stock, so I ordered them for $60 each. They should be here Monday. Hopefully they work.
  18. Newest "Now You Know" Video focusing on 12v battery issues in Rivians

I listened to the podcast where these guys attempted to compare the Rivian & Ford Lightning in cold weather, only to have the Rivian fail because of this issue. I listened to the podcast because the title led me to believe that there would be a comparison, only to find a review of the Ford’s...
  19. Random 20 Inch rims (cheap) for snow tires

Someone gave me a tip about TPMS sensors that might be important, which was to make sure that the original wheels & TPMS sensors are far away (like 25 yards) when the new ones are installed & trying to pair with the vehicle. This makes sense and could be difficult in some situations, such as...
