I don't think EVs are going to increase range much from the 300ish they have now because even if the batteries improve on energy density, manufacturers are going to just use smaller batteries to lower costs. I think what's more likely to solve this issue is better fast charging. The BYD blade...
.
Agree that erev is dead-end tech.
Scout should focus on the ev side. Higher volt architectures with better fast charging. Chinese batteries like the BYD blade 2 with appropriate fast charger can charge from 10-100% in 10 minutes. If I were Scout I would be trying to license that. That’s...
To update this issue where my climate preconditioning schedule is not working-service texted this a.m. apparently there is a clock in the high voltage battery(?) that is “stuck” and that is why my climate preconditioning is not functioning. They are replacing the hv battery under warranty...
I'm having the same issue OP. I'm also having an issue where my climate WILL NOT precondition on a schedule. If I set a schedule in either the car or app, as long as the schedule is set to more than an hour in the future, the car will not wake up and precondition. My app and car schedules are...
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree that they are a great company. Toyota spends a lot of money actively lobbying against climate change regulations. See e.g., public citizen; Guardian; Electric Vehicle Association;
Oh, and their CEO was recently spotted in a.... unique outfit ... ...
I must be unique because I actually think regen rocks in snow driving! I've kept it in all purpose mode all winter in the snowy midwest and its the most rock-solid car I've ever driven in the snow. I'm not sure what people are talking about with respect to slipping and regen. I find that...
I'll be honest and say that I think that the ultimate goal of FSD is to mandate its use. Essentially convince the authorities that its so much safer and needs to be mandated for you to drive. That way it locks you into a monthly fee to use your car.
I don't necessarily disagree, however, one of the key differentiating features for Tesla is the technology. This locks one important piece of the technology behind another paywall that consumers may not find worthy of $1200/year.
This also positions Tesla behind other automakers that offer...
Elektrek is reporting that today Tesla (effective immediately), is removing autopilot on new cars. To obtain that functionality, they need to pay the $100/month FSD subscription.
I think this is a bad move - I have no interest yet in FSD, but I use autopilot all the time on our model Y. My...
Sounds like it may be the half shafts - although it coming on suddenly is odd. If you search the forums you will see lots of threads on the half shaft issues.
Even so, the Rivian navigation system doesn't always have all the charging stations. For example, in the Midwest we have Kwik Trip/Kwik Star chargers that Rivian doesn't have in the Nav. I'd suggest an app called plugshare if you haven't already downloaded it. Plug share has a lot more...

Of particular note: " Lemonade's new partnership with Tesla provides the insurer with vehicle telemetry data which helps Lemonade to feed its risk prediction models. This includes the ability to distinguish when FSD is enabled and predict risk based on sensor...
I've noticed on my Gen 1 that when you turn onto a road, it keeps the same speed limit from the last road until it sees a new sign. So, if you turn from a road that is 35 MPH to a road that is 55 MPH, the speed limit in the car will stay at 35 MPH until it sees a new sign that says 55MPH.
I'm having pretty significant issues with climate scheduling as well. It seems completely broken for me. Scheduled it several days ago to be ready by 8:20 every morning from today until Friday and today I went to check the app at 8:10 and nothing was happening with the car. Still asleep no...
Come now, do you really not see the difference between the jeep thread and the one here you also linked? In the jeep thread they are discussing a dangerous and defective high voltage battery. The one you linked on this forum is not at all related to safety or drivability of the car. The Rivian...
Rivians already do this. Rivian Emergency Response guide - See top of page 10. "The vehicle unlocks the doors when a crash is detected. "
I don't think its so much door locking, but latch releasing from the inside that is the issue. While a bystander or first responder can probably open...
Saw this Electrek article about the "SAFE exit Act" requiring automakers to "install easy-to-find manual releases in case of power failure. " Given the robust discussion here about this issue, I thought it might be of interest to members.
Personally, while I think this is good, I think the...
