  1. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

I have a cheap laser thermometer and I can use. I will try to do this in the next couple days. Currently everything is back together. I can recheck measurements during charging and check temperatures as well.
  2. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

Yes. It’s copper stranded 6 awg thhn / THWN-2 in conduit. The ends are torqued to spec. I think 45 inch/lbs at the breaker and like 20 at the charger but I can’t remember exactly the charger spec.
  3. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

This got me thinking if something is wrong is my set up. I am measuring a 17v drop over the 130ft. However, using voltage drop calculators or the equation Vd = 2*K*I*L/ CM where2 is for single phase system, K is 12.9 for copper, I is 48, L is 130ft and CM circular mills given in code book...
  4. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

My voltage at the panel is 247 or 123.5 x 2. If I do charge for a while the cable is warm but not hot. I was debating using 4g wire but from what I read under 150f the 6g would be fine to use. I could make an effort to measure the wire temperature and see. Thanks for the analysis.
  5. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

Daily it’s about 20 miles. More on weekends and various trips.
  6. Any reason to charge at home less than 48 amps

Currently, I have a fixed rate electricity so it does not matter when I charge or how fast. I am considering hourly programs but have not changed yet. I pay about 14.6 cents per KWH when all fees are added in. I have the Rivian charger installed with 6G wire that is to a detached garage with...
  7. Car wash mode glitch or user error?

Did not know that was a thing. Thanks.
  8. Car wash mode glitch or user error?

So, I know the car wash mode is for drive through car washes but It was rather annoying when the charge door kept opening even with just the spray of water. So, I opened the door and put it in car wash mode. Everything was fine, the door handles did close like they should (maybe better open...
  9. Canceled my R1S order :-(

We all are going to have or own biases in our cars. Now I just got my R1s but ordered before the price increase. My wife drives a 2020 gle450 that was a few grand cheaper at close to 76k. My r1s ended up at 82k. The MB has a richer fit and finish inside but the R1s blows that car away in...

  11. Meridian vs in-house sound system quality

I just got my R1S about one week ago. Mine is clearly with the in house sound system. I heard a laugh edition in a R1T a while back that I thought sounded a lot better than mine but I can say for sure. So, I was wondering if any one did a side by side comparison of the Meridian system that...
  12. Upcoming Rivian September 2023 software update: Drive Mode and UI Updates

I would like to see garage doors show up around home without having to hit the garage button. So, you reduce the need for one extra tap.
  13. Upcoming Rivian September 2023 software update: Drive Mode and UI Updates

I rented a Tesla for a weekend trip and really liked the light change alert. In this day of distracted driving, I thought that would be a nice option to have.
  14. Daily charging?

I don’t have a far daily drive, maybe 25 miles on average. I only charge to 70%. Now should I let the car drain to closer to 20% before charging or is it ok to charge every day? If I do this the charge daily the car will go from maybe 55% to 70% every day. Suggestions ?
  15. Tesla Charging cannot be the standard NA adopts to.

I kinda like Elon since he just does stuff. Yes, he can be annoying, childish and rather impulsive but I think we need the crazies. I respect the fact that his domination in fields are in new frontiers. I dont see a negative about NAS. It does allow Tesla to turn charging in to a billion...
