Hi All,
Had anyone heard, or has Rivian disclosed, what sort of efficiency the R2 will do (roughly)? I've not seen anything but I assume its going to be better than the R1.
Cheers
I like to look for the silver lining ... more people would get off their fat asses and walk/bike. Seriously, the number of Mom's driving in their Yukons the 800 yds to the bus stop with their kids twice a day(who are perfectly able to walk) is staggering. So is the engines running for 10+mins...
I have a hard time beliving in the 'shared ownership between friends and family' too. I mean, you split the cost 50/50 then figure out the practicalities of usage afterwards? Nah.
Just buy a car that costs half the price and use it when you want.
Maybe its just marketing or maybe its a genuine skunk works thats going to test a bunch of cool stuff that'll hopefully filter down to the cars themselves. Who knows.
I like the idea of 'specials' ... like the Porsche 911 Dakar or the Lambo Sterrato. \
Spend less on self driving and more on...
Dear Rivian,
Please donāt waste your money at this stage. Youāve got a factory, plus a load of debt, to build and pay off. Youāve got service centres still underperforming. Focus your effort on rolling out R2 & 3 asap at high quality (recall early R1 QC wasnt exactly epic) and a price thatāll...
Humans are just getting lazy and always looking for ways to make things physically easier. A door handle - not difficult. Just pull.
Why the hell do i need a button and all the electronic crap that goes with it when a simple, well sprung handle will do. And then everyone wonders why cars...
Thatās a good piece. I donāt want to sound like a fanboy but you have to tip your hat to them for the progress they have made and obstacles overcome. Iām really looking forward to getting my R2.
P.S. reporter .... get the f@#k off your phone when RJ is talking to you.
Also... instead of spending all this $ on Autonomy, why doesn't Rivian invest in ways to make the cars either:
1) better (you be the judge of what that means to you)
2) more affordable (ditto)
Nah, pass. A few times I've used 'hands free' in my R1 and previously Model Y when I was on a long straight highway and wanted to unwrap a snickers or something.
Humans are getting lazy. Its a car ... its meant to be driven. Otherwise get a chauffeur and sit in the back.
RJ is a great communicator IMO. He doesn't over-hype but you feel his passion. He's a geeky engineer after all and I think he's 100% the right person to lead Rivian. He just needs to keep a great team around him.
