  1. Guess the estimate for this accident collision repair?

I think the insurance industry is being fleeced here. Not just auto, I bet healthcare too. Insurance companies don't know what's going on on the ground. Some unhappy employee just receives an invoice from a Dr or Body shop and cuts a check. They don't care, not their $. Sad thing is, we all...
  2. Best stereo sound settings -- post yours!

I had this weird thing last week where I was listening to a podcast (parked up) and I kept hearing this dull thud every now and then (like a mortar base plate or artillery fire in the distance, or a workman dropping a bag of cement on the bed). I actually moved the truck and it was still there...
  3. Guess the estimate for this accident collision repair?

You said it, fat chance but if I'm honest, I wouldn't want the Gov't involved. They just f#*k it up somehow and we'll end up paying more. If it continues, car insurance will become, relative to vehicle price, too prohibitive and sales will fall. If anything, the car industry needs to step in...
  4. Guess the estimate for this accident collision repair?

I mentioned before on here I was parked near repair yard in the Bay Area and there were a good dozen Tesla's there, all with minor dings and scrapes. I assumed it was a cheaper panel body shop so asked the dude who was walking around. He said they were all totaled. Complete insurance write off...
  5. How has the 2023.34.0 Update changed the ride of your Rivian? [Vote in poll]

Ok, I'm going to eat a bit of humble pie here. Having had the day to drive over every pot hole, man hole, speed bump, kerb and generally try to test this, I AGREE ... THE RIDE IS BETTER! I cast my mind back to how the truck felt over certain terrain and yes, I think we have a winner. Well...
  6. Any regrets on 20" All Terrain tires for suburban parents not off-roading?

None whatsoever. 1. Less chance of kerbing expensive alloys 2. Looks better IMO (esp. if you have the truck) 3. Slightly softer ride (when you hit all those pot holes) 4. Off road/bad weather/snow optionality
  7. How has the 2023.34.0 Update changed the ride of your Rivian? [Vote in poll]

Can't help thinking that there's a bit of the placebo effect at play here. I updated my truck and as usual I didn't even register what had changed given that so much of the updates is just trivial bug fixes, let alone a tweak to the ride control. I made 2 trips and didn't notice a thing (btw...
  8. Stop being a slave to the pump. What I realized driving a V8 loaner.

You might be 'buying time' but most folks with EV are not. As I've said, I'm pro-EVs but unless you have home charging or work charging, you are probably spending more time at a charging station than at the pump, especially if you drive longer distances. Question/poll: if you could pay avg...
  9. Manual Tonneau Cover from Interrobang - my review

Thanks for the review. I've got a Rivian manual cover (I paid $800 for) coming some time soon (I hope). I'm giving it one shot and if anything breaks under warranty or it turns up broken, I'm asking for a refund and I'll get one of these.
  10. Electric cars have a road trip problem, even for the secretary of energy

Like the man said, no problem if you have a Tesla! This is a NON-TESLA problem.
  11. Lifted Rivian R1T on lift kit and 38s!! + Drag Race vs. Ram TRX

I'm pretty sure having wheels that stick out from the arches like that is illegal. I don't care that they've lifted the truck, his money not mine, but I do car when my car's windscreen gets cracked by all the crap his wheels kick out. I also care that the police do nothing about this sort of...
  12. Rivian CFO Confirms Substantial R1T and R1S Changes Coming in 2024

Sorry, what exactly is the "substantial change" coming to the R1's next year? Did I miss something?
  13. Tesla Charging cannot be the standard NA adopts to.

So what if Elon just "shuts it down" ? We would just be back to the same situation we are in today where non-Tesla's can't use the Tesla SC network. Big deal, we just have to rely on EA and others as we do now (as crap as they are). And the bumper sticker.... really? Are folks that insecure...
  14. Question for all N. Carolina Rivian owners ...

Scott, That's mega news. Thanks so much for sharing that. That's a big relief. I can't help thinking that Charlotte being a decent sized City, pretty affluent, should be an ideal market for Rivian so hopefully Rivian presence will only improve over time. Made my Friday! Thank you, Sir.
  15. Arizona WTB Used R1T Near AZ

    Shot you a message.
  16. Discovered that R1T Powered Tonneau Available in Gear Shop Early 2024?!

That's extraordinary because I emailed my guide yesterday (got my confirm address email 8 weeks ago) to ask what was happening and I got literally the same reply, word for word. I'm thinking that Rivian has replaced guides with AI Bots who just pull stock answers out to questions (if they...
  17. Question for all N. Carolina Rivian owners ...

Thanks y'all. Really appreciate the replies. My conclusion is hope that mobile service can cover you (was told by Rivian that mobile service has a 200 mile radius from SC so that seems to rule Charlotte out) or hope that Rivian can strike a deal like Tesla did. Hmmm.... I never make a plan...
