It’s a gasoline generator. Most of us on this forum bought an EV to move away from fossil fuels. I bought a Pebble Flow to extend that movement to our travel camping.
Some nice features, but why the misleading Worlds First Power Generating…….?
Other trailers have had generators (no thank you, I‘ll pass on a gasoline generator). This is third out of the gate with tow assist (Pebble Flow, Lightship). Good to see competition, but reverting to a gasoline...
The Rivian receiver is well positioned. The closer a ball hitch is to the axle of the tow vehicle, the less tendency there will be for a trailer to sway.
Battery SOC while boondocking will be affected by usage and solar production. Using the HVAC consumes a lot of kW. Best to realize that you are camping, despite the nice accommodations, and manage both power and water carefully. Black water is always our limiting factor in extended boondocking...
The Airstream definitely has more storage. As we prepared our Airstream for sale, I was astonished at the amount of seldom or never used stuff that had accumulated in the trailer, much like a garage. The Pebble has less storage to be sure, but we think that it will suffice for our adventures...
WDH often stimulates spirited discussion. I was comfortable following Pebble‘s recommendation regarding no WDH. They provided a Weigh Safe hitch with my trailer to help me ensure that tongue weight is near the recommended 650 lbs. Note that a WDH does not always improve safety. Equalizer, for...
I agree with you about towing at 55. The greater efficiency and safety is significant. We make every effort to travel on ‘Blue Highways’ at 55 mph, but trying to get home before the snow had us on I40 where 55 in a 75 or faster pack would just not be safe.
TIA,
The important question is ‘How does the First Mate like it?’ (we’re ex sailors as well, now in our 70’s).
She does! Thank goodness. The bed is an adjustment to be sure, as our Airstream had the rear queen with access on both sides. Crawling up from the bottom is no problem, nobody gets...
R1T and Pebble Flow - First Journey
We picked up our new Pebble Flow Founders Edition at Pebble HQ in Fremont CA on 11/19/25 and began our indirect journey home to Durango CO. We’re towing with our R1T, dual motor, performance, max pack on 21” Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 tires. This same truck...
I agree, EA plug and charge is working great on my current road trip BUT it does not honor my EA membership discount, so back to the often annoying EA app.
Experience certainly varies. Thankfully, with charger availability improving steadily, we can more often make choices based upon reliability scores, pricing, location. I hope that Rivian will refine the nav system to add filters for such parameters. Until then, Plugshare is a great tool.
I‘ve...
We take long trips. I use inRoute app for planning, then the Rivian Nav for charging locations on the go. We plan for destinations, typically National Parks or events, take the ‘blue highway’ scenic routes, and find charging where needed, Plugshare photos are useful for scouting trailer...
Your experience may not be typical. I have had nothing but excellent service from the Colorado Springs Service Center as well as the mobile technician out of ABQ. The app has worked just fine for service requests.
There is really nothing within your control (given your trailer)
except speed and acceleration.. Wind, elevation changes, temperature, traffic all affect efficiency. I’ve averaged 1.1 kWh/mi for over 14K miles towing a 7500 lb 28’ Airstream with my Perf, Dual, Max R1T. My 21” road tires are...
