PSA: If your Rivian is in the shop for a hood alignment issue, be sure to check the edges of the hood when you pick it up from service. Ours had scrapes along the edges on both sides, like they weren't careful when replacing the hood.
I hadn’t tried my shortcuts in a while but yeah, they’re not working. I suspect it’s more an issue with the Rivian app, as my other shortcuts are working fine.
FWIW, with an Apple Watch, they wouldn’t be able to do anything without your watch password—everything is de-authenticated as soon as you remove the watch from your wrist.
Owned for 5 months, 3.5-month wait for service, in the shop for about 30 days of those 150 days.
(Issues weren’t entirely fixed and the car had some cosmetic damage while in for service, so I’m currently waiting for another appointment.)
While our R1S was in for service, the service center unfortunately didn’t fix a couple things and caused some cosmetic damage. We were asked by Rivian support to file new service requests in the app, one for each issue.
This task used to be simple: Give the request a title, add some details...
I also find the Rivian nav system to be difficult to read/view -- little contrast, tiny type, etc. Especially in bright sun or if you're wearing sunglasses.
On a Gen2 R1S with the 22” tires, Sport mode is fun…if you’re on smooth pavement. Otherwise the ride is pretty uncomfortable. We got Performance because it was the only way to get the config we wanted from the Shop, but we hardly ever use it.
Dual Large here, so not the same, but while we might be able to make it all the way, we always stop once for a quick charge—both for peace of mind and because everyone in the car wants a break.
We stop in Roseville, which has a big Tesla spot and a well-maintained EA spot right off 80.
On the...
FWIW, our RS1 has been in the shop for 3.5 weeks; supposed to be done next week. I contacted the service center and asked if they could fix this issue now so I don't have to bring the vehicle in again. They said they don't yet have what they need to address the recall, so I'll have to wait until...
What's the difference between this one and the previous, which also said it works with the 2025? (We just bought the previous one in December.) Thanks!
Thanks for the writeup, mpshizzle! I'm in a similar boat: Gen2 Dual R1S with 22" Sport is in the shop, and my loaner is a 2023 Quad R1S with AT wheels/tires.
Agree, the biggest difference is noise/ride: The AT tires make a huge difference. Cabin noise is much louder, and you can really feel the...
I don't think this is a fair take. The Mach-E was designed from the ground up as an EV and it's a fantastic car—fun, roomy, looks great inside and out, 330 miles of range. Car taste is of course subjective, but we like our Mach-E better than any Tesla we saw for a similar price, and every person...
I think part of the issue is that Rivian’s Highway Assist is more aggressive/jerky than some other driver-assist systems. Lane changes and lane centering aren’t very smooth.
Interesting. Our other car is a Mach-E, and the latest version of Blue Cruise has been much better than our R1S's driver-assist mode. The Mach-E works on more roads, doesn't disengage as much, keeps a safer-feeling position in the lane, slows and accelerates in traffic more smoothly, and changes...
We’re in the San Jose area. Picked up our RS1 in early October and it had several issues on delivery. First appointment wasn’t until February. (We’ve since had to add several other issues to the same ticket.) It did get moved up to late January, but that’s 3.5 months from appt request, and the...
UPDATE: I didn't have access to a trailer, but I went to Home Depot tonight and bought a cheap set of trailer lights. When I connected them, I got a message that was something like "If you're towing a trailer, you should switch to All-Purpose mode. Do you want to?" I tapped Switch and not only...
