I’m back to considering the F150 Hybrid again.
-F150 Lightning doesn’t have enough range for me.
-Suspect R1T Max Pack delays are going to get longer and longer beyond my need date.
Anyone else reconsidering?
Glass half full: If there are launch delays, those of us later in the queue might be ok as they catch up.
Glass half empty: If the can’t even accurately forecast timelines 2 months out, how on earth will we get these things serviced.
I got the 400 mile pack so on random weekends I can drive 150 miles to a campsite stay 2 days and drive home without worrying about my charge. I have all week to get the range back up. The only time I might want more amps at home is when I boost the pack from 90% to 100% right before I leave...
$90K Platinum for 300 miles of range is not going to work for me. The hybird at $70K is more tempting.
No one is mentioning Apple CarPlay as a motivating factor:)
I like the frunk a lot.
300 miles of range is not enough. 350 might be enough to take a test drive. After this, we will not have an ICE to fall back to. We need something that isn't going to drive us crazy with charging times or finding a charger for a road trip.
I think I prefer the Rivian...
Current Tundra has horrible MPG and the interior is 15 years out of date. They have a lot of catching up to do.
F150 electric and Cybertruck are bigger competitors.
I don't think there is anything that is 1:1.
For performance you need to get a Raptor or TRX. Even then those are pretty slow relative to the R1T.
Size wise it is wider than a Tacoma but narrower than the F-150. Similar to a Honda Ridgeline. The Tacoma is easy to park but the F-150 can be...
Even the Tesla Superchargers are not as easy as a gas pump. I have had faults that take multiple attempts. It takes about 20-30 seconds to fully engage while the light blinks blue. I always cross my fingers that the light is going to turn green. Sometimes it doesn't and you are really in trouble...
Just measure my Yakima box, it needs 60” from the cab to the last bar. Not going to mount over the bed. Has to go on the roof. Was hoping it could be lower for easier access.
If you are not worried about security, the skis can just rest on top of the gate.
If the designs were reversed, would anyone buy the CT? If Rivian built a giant stainless steel Dorito and Tesla built a nice looking normal truck, I think the stainless steel Dorito would flop. The CT says a lot for the power of the Tesla brand and Elon’s sales ability.
While I agree driving a Dodge TRX for a couple of days would be pretty cool. Unfortunately it isn't for me.
A R1T with Max Pack will likely be able to go farther. I hear real world MPG of a TRX is around 9. 33 Gallon tank = 3297 mile of range.
Or if I drive 120,000 miles in a TRX that is going...
