I'm exactly the same boat as you and now have a Preorder on both. Realistically though because I live on Canada, my guess is Volvo wins the race to get my money
As competition increases lots of people won't eat it though. At the end of the day people need cars and won't do much that is too "adventurous".
Since the EX90 announcement guess what, I now have 2 preorders. Sure I prefer the Rivian but it's already more expensive. I won't need quad so I'll...
To me this is a positive tbh. I find the concept looked too much like a crossover. And I mean, the XC90 isn't a true SUV and straddles that line between crossover and SUV but I'm sick of every EV looking like a crossover (which is why the Rivian appeals to me - looks like a true SUV).
I think...
Yup. They took my driver's licence number and my credit card number and told me I'm the 8th reservation holder. The whole process seems a bit odd since you don't get an email confirmation or anything though
I put in my reservation to hedge my R1S one.
At this point I legitimately don't have a preference which one shows up first. I'm super excited by the Rivian but the Volvo and having a company like Volvo back the EX90 is huge (I have an XC90 now) - add the fact that Volvo safety record is...
But wait. What if I really need to get to Costco really quickly after dropping off the kids at school? lol yeah speed limiting is a non issue for me. Would rather it not be limited but I don't care.
Yup. As we get closer to the announcement, the details we're getting, including images aren't turning me off the EX90 yet. Once the details come out and if the pricing and actual delivery date align, I'll be going with this despite how much I wanted the R1S
I'm in a similar boat. I really want an R1S but if the EX90 sings the right notes, I may explore that more seriously.
That said, I go think much like other elements of the cars themselves I think Rivian will batch produce and ship cars up here.
Dude, you were on the QEW and didn't let us know? We likely would have lined like Royalty was arriving it just to get a glimpse!
Seriously really cool that the QEW was already mapped...gives me some faith - lots of us feel Rivian has forgotten about us
I find the delivery estimate piece interesting. I guess it works for folks who locked in when it was "preorders" but Rivian will need to find another way to forecast when they get post March 22 orders (where you reserve a place in line and not a config)
Didn't not
This is really encouraging to hear. Thanks for sharing. Here hoping some folks start getting their R1s this year and Rivian announces where their next few SCs will be in Canada. I expect that will calm down the majority of us Canadians who feel we've been left in the dark
I mean, with all due respect, one of the posts you're referencing compared the Telluride to a 13 year old pre-refresh XC90, not exactly comparing apples with apples....and even then I reread his post he still says the Tell isn't "far from" the 13 year old Volvo and the way it's worded puts the...
